Camera lock screen iPhone 5 not working properly after upgrade to iOS 8

After I installed iOS 8 on the iPhones 5 of my and my wife's the camera on the lock screen isn't working properly anymore. When I swipe up, the camera starts but the screen turns black within less then a second.

On the iPad 2 and the iPad Air (both upgraded to iOS 8) I don't have this problem. It seems to be iPhone 5 specific.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I think the problem is to those they have MS exchange company email on their iPhones. In
that case you cannot disable the Lock screen password so to reset the figure prints.
That is why in some 5s the problem solved and in some others still exists.
Please verify me if you try it to reset the fingerprint if it works? And let’s
see if the ones we still have problem also have companies emails!

I tried torn on only the passcode, without Touch ID, but I had the same problem. When my iphone is locked, is impossible use the timer, camera and calculator. Some times I had black screen or the wallpaper, without apps. If I open slowly the camera and touch the screen I can use camera, timer and calculator.

In my case, only disable the passcode I can use normal my iphone. 😟

I have an iPhone 5s and i have the same problem. I also have other problems that start as long as the issue with the camera button starts. For example if i am in the middle of a phone call and i get a second call, then the phone mixes up the two screens (the one of my current phone call, and the incoming). As a result both screens become unusable.

I have come to notice that the bug starts the first time i use the voice command to call someone from my phone book, or to call a random number. I don't use Siri because the language i use is Greek, and it is not supported.

It is definitely happening by this feature, because i have even tried that with my phone restored from iTunes, and formated as new iPhone. So no data prom my original phone was transferred.

I can confirm that the problem for me is independent from e-mail accounts and all other stuff, because i tried restoring the phone and formatted it as a new iPhone without any account settings at all. Just like the phone that you get when you unbox it. The problem occurs the first time i use the voice command to place a phone call.

I also tested it with 2 other iPhone 5s and it happens in all cases.

It is definitely an iOS bug.
