Camera lock screen iPhone 5 not working properly after upgrade to iOS 8

After I installed iOS 8 on the iPhones 5 of my and my wife's the camera on the lock screen isn't working properly anymore. When I swipe up, the camera starts but the screen turns black within less then a second.

On the iPad 2 and the iPad Air (both upgraded to iOS 8) I don't have this problem. It seems to be iPhone 5 specific.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have reproduced the bug on an iPhone 4s, 5, 5c and my 5s (all in 8.1.2). It happens after you make a "Voice Control" call. If you reboot the phone the problem goes away until you make another "Voice Control" call. The weird thing is that if you use "Voice Control" feature to play music (instead of making a phone call) the problem does NOT appear!

After the latest iOS update, camera went dead, black screen on both rear and front cameras when using Apple Camera occasionally can capture video but photo is dead. Not a hardware issue I suppose, since it works just fine with Google's SnapSeed App. Does anyone else experienced this? Anyone knows how to fix it? How do you complain about it to Apple?

For those who have the camera access problem from the lock screen: You prob have Siri turned off on your phone and use voice dialing. Just turn on Siri in the setting then turn off/on your iphone. The problem will go away. Hope this help. People turn off Siri because they don't want to use up there small data plan but if you just use it for voice dialing, the amount of data per month is very small.

I just found this on my iphone 5 lastnight and after using voice dialing (with Siri on), my camera access from the locked screen always works. I was frustrated with this annoying problem since IOS 8 update. I don't know if Apple will fix this in the future or not but at least you can get it back working by turn on Siri. I know someone had submit this bug to Apple. If you can update the bug to Siri specific, they may reproduce the problem easier.

Well I've tried absolutely everything on my 4s, including a full reset. This got rid of the problem for about 3 days and then it reappeared. It's really annoying as if you want to take a photo on the spur of the moment, the only option seems to be to enter passcode to unlock screen and then go to camera - by which time the event has passed! So the only workaround that I've found is to turn off the passcode - not ideal. Incidentally, I've tried Siri on or off and it makes no difference. I have version 8.1.2
