Not really Mike,
I still have not recovered my Icons from Trailers made with iMovie 9.
This is even with the latest IOS 8 update from Nov 17th.
I did two things and Im not exactly sure which fixed it. first I changed my movies all to the genre of movies. I'm sure that wasn't the fix. Then I turned off "automatically download album art" under Preferences>Store. I think it would not add art because it did not find a match on apples side. If that doesn't do the trick, maybe checking and unchecking options in preferences does the trick.
AAll my movies have been downloaded from iTunes and some don't have icons/artwork. This is ridiculous, as I bought them from Apple!! This was not a problem before the iOS 8 upgrade - I have an iPad mini retina - all artwork was there before the upgrade. It is only on movies that are sequels too, which is even more random. I Tried all the "change this & do that" crap and none of it worked. It's an Appke bug & they need to fix it, especially for movies bought from iTunes!!
I Have just found the same problem. I upgraded to 8.2 a while ago with no problems or side effects. The home videos page worked perfectly, as always.
Today, for some unknown reason, only four of my video icons have a picture, they worked perfectly well upto now. The other videos all play fine, but their icons are blank, with just the title. I have not upgraded or changed anything at all. Why this should happen I have no idea. Seems no one else has either! Cheers 🙂
I got the same problem, it even goes further. Using a brand new iPad Air 2 with the latest operating system, and all software up to date, I have lost most of the thumbnails of TV-Shows in short on all items which are shown, when the "Video" button has been hit.
Specially loosing the thumbs of the TV-Shows ist rather annoying, because I have put several of the shows, which I have purchased on DVD's on the iPad now and there is no chance to get a thumb in the window. However, some of them display the thumb, some of them don't.
On most of the thumbs the icons from itunes (TV-Show - the little TV, or Movies - the strip of film) and the name of the series is displayed. I can play the movies (and TV-Shows) without any problem, however the thumbs don't look nice at all.
Hope someone has any ideas... Cheers.
Ugh. Thanks for checking aspect ratios. Now I have to re-edit all my icons? WT?
TV series are rectangular ratios but still not syncing either!
Is anybody at Apple reading these posts ? It would be nice to know that they are actually interested in our complaints.
And we'd like to know if they intend to fix them or not.
through trial and error, I found out that if you right click on the video in iTunes and select get info and then under the options tab change media kind to Movie the artwork will display on your IOS 8 device
Thank you so much for this solution. It works!
Now, I can get all my movies in "My Movies" and all the artworks just reappeared.
But we don't need to upgrade to Yosemite, because my Mac is still under Lion. I only updated my Ipad to IOS 8 & Itunes 12.
This is a GOOD solution.
THANK YOU! And Happy New Year!
Doesnt on mine, all my imported movies are set as Movie but few have artwork when I had iOS 8 so had to return to iOS 7
helped me too currently under iOS9 / iTunes 12, after having changed thumbnail picture to exact size 667px by 1000px
