Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
EEver since loading new ios8 software my wife and my ipad2 keeps freezing up on facetime.Keeps saying poor internet connection and camera freezes.I tried everything and my internet provider sent new modem with router built in.Same results.Any ideas or is this an apple problem?

Me and my mother both have the same problem, both have an iPad 2 with iOS8.0.1 installed. It was fine with iOS 7 but the camera on FaceTime now keeps freezing everytime we switch it to the 'back camera'.
I've rang up Apple Support and they've tried everything including the good old "restore as new" but the problem still persists. They have now recommended me to take it to an Apple Store to get a diagnostic.
I have the same problem too. I guess quality is gone downhill time to start looking at other brands products as there are quite a few rotten apples nowadays. After wiping, resetting as a new iPad loosing all data etc. I still have this issue. It is so annoying.
YOur right.Apple will never admit it's there software that ruined a lot of people's iPads and phone,including mine and yours!!!
The work around from ddan_s worked on my wife's ipad2. Have a couple more to try same work around.....
Well Ronanos, I agree this is very frustrating but I am afraid that going to other vendors might be a very short lived solution too.
But obviously that is a choice you can always make.
I like to think that Apple is (still) trying to fix this.
My experience over the past 8 years of owning several "iDevices" has been better than with any other brand or OS I have owned before.
Maintaining the same good level of user experience on several generations of products (more than three years!) on consumer electronics like these is not an easy task.
At least with Apple you have a vendor who has the ability to control the user experience because they develop both HW and SW. At some point they will have to draw the line on how far we can take the iPad2 down the IOS path. Perhaps this is where Apple should be more cautious.
A lot of my friends and family who stayed on IOS7 on their iPad2 do not have this issue and I am telling them to stay there.
Anyway, back on topic, I upgraded tp 8.1.2 but the issue of freezing with the message "reconnecting..." remains.
What I have noticed is that when I use FT on my Macbook or iMac (on Yosemite), I do not have the issue at all. using the same wireless network at my home from exactly the same location. Only the iPAD2 with IOS 8.x.x has the problem; no matter how close I am to the router. I don't move around either during the FT call. The iPad2 sits still on the table.
The people on the other end of the FT call can still hear me while my iPad2 is saying "Reconnecting...", the image is freezing on both ends and I can't hear any audio on my end.
SSame with me,updated new version today same resultd.My other 2 ipad2 ,iPad Air version 7 works fine.Not touching it.Thanks for input!!
I have the same problem. Took it to an apple store and they swapped it out with another iPad2 which has the same problem too!!
Has there been any acknowledgement from Apple about the issue?

The problem is indeed still present on two iPad 2 here with 8.2. Does anyone know whether the 8.3 beta does solve this problem (finally)?
Even a complete factory reset (recovery-mode reinstall) does not provide relief.
I just update my Ipad 2 to IOS 8.4. The bug seems to be fixed.
I can also confirm that the upgrade to IOS 8.4 on the iPad 2 solved also the problem in my case, so we can assume that this was the solution.
