Double/Echo Email Notification Sound (iPhone 6 Plus and iOS 8)

I am having the same issue as you, though mine is with the sounds. I started this thread Mail Notification Dinging twice iOS 8

Hopefully Apple or someone can clear this up as it is annoying. I have tried changing all my settings but no luck. I turned my old iphone on with ios7 and verified that my settings were the same on ios8 and they are with the exception that the ios8 has "sounds" listed under the general notifications area for mail and ios7 does not even though they are both set to play sounds.

I have the same issue. VERY annoying. Hopefully this gets fixed soon!

I'm having this same issue. Prior to my iPhone 6, my phone would vibrate once for emails (Exchange and Gmail) and twice for Messages - which is how I had it set up. Since getting my iPhone 6, it vibrates twice for emails and Messages, even though my settings are exactly the same as prior to my iPhone 6.

So annoying. I love knowing if the vibrate is an email or message but now I can't tell.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

I'm having a similar but possibly related issue. It's happening for me with my Gmail accounts.

When I send a message from me to me (yes, I know - not typical), a copy of the unread message "arrives" in my sent folder as well as my inbox.

I get notifications for each "arrival". Before updating to iOS 8, this never happened.

If anyone has any thoughts, I'd be glad to hear them.

Turning the phone off and back on seems to work great for me! I have a iphone 6 plus on iOS 8.

same for me. my yahoo mail. double chime on my iphone 5s, and my ipad air

I have experienced the same thing on my exchange account on iPhone 6 plus 128GB.

The fix for me was to power cycle the phone. It had never been power cycled since I received it.

Unfortunately, power cycling is never a true fix. It's a temporary workaround until you hit that part of the iOS code with the bug that borks the notification sound.

They need to fix the code.

I wasn't suggesting that the code doesn't need fixed just stating what I thought resolved the issue.

What I am reporting now is that after about an hour the echo new mail notification sound is back.

While the problem did go away with a power cycle it has returned.

Has there been a resolution to this issue? It's extremely annoying not knowing the difference between an email and SMS message while the phone is silent.

I have iPhone 5 16g ios 8.0.2 and have the same double sound Echo for notifications for Outlook.com emails. This isn't every time but often enough to be annoying. This had been an issue since ios8 came out.

iPhone 6 with iOS8.0.2 has the problem, iPad with same OS does not. Rather annoying I must say.
