Double/Echo Email Notification Sound (iPhone 6 Plus and iOS 8)

I have iCloud push email on my iPhone 6 Plus. When I get an email notification the sound seems to 'echo'. Another way to explain how it sounds is it sounds just like when I get a notification and my iPad and iPhone are right next to each other and both notifications come in at once. It did not do it with any of my past iPhones.

Here are the steps I've taken to isolate the problem.

  1. Going into mail.app in Notifications and turning off "allow notifications" will turn off all visual notifications, but still allow audio notifications (no doubling of audio notifications)
  2. Turning off just "notification sound" by choosing "none" for each account will result in no audio notifications at all.
  3. Doing a "Reset All Settings" does not correct the problem.

All other notification sounds are fine, it's just when I get an email.

Does anyone have the same issue? Any solution?

Guys, i think i found something.

This what i had on my iPhone 6 iOS 8.1:

Both My corporate Exchange email account and my Gmail account were configured on my device on the native Mail app and i didn't have the double/echo email notification issue.

Once i decided to use the new "Inbox" app by Google for my Gmail, i removed the Gmail account from the native Mail app and left only the Exchange account.

That's the point were the double/echo email notification started.

Today, i decided i had enough from the "Inbox" app and re-configured my Gmail again on the native mail app.

Once i did it & both Exchange and Gmail accounts are under the native mail app again, it's stopped completely!

I don't know what is the reason for that but it works great and you can try it too.

This is clearly a bug. I have been able to replicate the issue and resolve it. However, it is not an acceptable solution.

I have a work Exchange account configure and a personal Outlook.com account configured. When both email accounts are on my phone I get the double alert regardless of which account the email comes from. When I remove 1 of the 2 accounts the issues goes away. When I reconfigure both accounts the double/echo alerts return. Apple needs to fix this bug.

I'm still seeing it, so no. I have an Exchange account for work and a GMail account, and if I have the Exchange account set to give just a vibe, I get the double vibe. If I turn off vibe notifications for that account, I correctly get no vibe. I like to leave my phone un-muted to let phone call rings come through, but I use the "vibe with no audible alert" with my email accounts. When I enabled an audible alert along with the vibe, I've only gotten a single vibe with each of four messages so far. There may be a correlation with disabling the audible alert.

The "vibe without audio" option was added in iOS7 and I was pretty happy with it. I used to use a self-created "silent" audio sample in earlier iOS versions to have it only vibe regardless of the state of the mute switch.

For what it's worth, I'm seeing this behavior on a 5s and not a 6 plus.
