[Unsolved] iOS 8 Exchange Emails read on other devices do not clear out from Lock Screen

Creating this thread again since the last one got marked 'solved' automatically although no solution was found.

My Google Apps (Exchange) emails on the lock screen are not disappearing when I read them on other devices (eg. my iPad or Mac). On iOS 7 this used to work very consistently for me, that is, when I received an email on 3 devices and read it on one of them, the email would instantly be marked as read on the other devices and the notifications would be cleared out.

Furthermore, if I slide the notification of a read email on the lock screen and delete it, it has no effect on the server. So this is certainly a bug.

PS: Also tried Push email notifications with iCloud mail, same problem. For iCloud, even the icon badge count is not updated.

Really? That's great news then. Can you give us some details like:

- What kind of and how many Exchange accounts are you using?

- Does the Mail app icon badge also update when the emails are read on another device?

- How many seconds does it roughly take for the notifications to disappear after you read the emails on other devices?

- Does sliding the notification left and marking an email as 'Read' on the lock screen make notifications on other devices disappear?

I'm got a call from Cupertino some days back after writing to Apple directly and am filing a new bug report on 8.1.1 in the next day or two — these details will be helpful.

Thanks!

- I have one Exchange 2010 account and 2 Gmail accounts

- Yes, the Mail badge also updates when emails are read on another device. Sometimes right away, sometimes it takes a bit.

- Before 8.2, the mail app would know messages were read, but they would stay new on the lock screen until the phone was unlocked. But now It seems like the notifications disappear from the lock screen as soon as the Mail app knows the messages have been read. Sometimes, this is instantly, but sometimes it takes a little bit to update. In other words, the notifications in the lock screen are only as accurate as the Mail app. I've actually seen a message disappear from the lock screen in realtime while the screen was still lit up from alerting me of the new email (which I deleted on my computer). This is also the way it worked in iOS 7.

- I haven't tried that. I'll give it a shot and see what it does.

Okay, I just tried #4. Yes, when you mark a message as read from the lock screen, it gets marked as read on all devices. I do appreciate that they don't make you enter your passcode to mark a message as read from the lock screen (just to delete it).

One of my Gmail accounts is a grandfathered free Google Apps account and the other is just a plain old free Gmail account. Neither of those are using push email, so the Exchange account is really the only valid test.

I will say that this issue has been driving me crazy since I first installed 8.0, and it has been such a relief to have it finally operating properly. For what it's worth, I was also having an issue with my silent email notification buzzing twice instead of once, and that issue seems to have been resolved as well.
