iPhone 6 WiFi Issue

I currently own an iPhone 6 Verizon and I get WiFi speed around 1 Mbps. I know it's not my router because the WiFi works perfectly fine on my laptop and my Dad's Galaxy Note 3. I have reset the network settings couple of times, and even though it would get my regular speed back for half an hour or so, it would decline to around 1 Mbps. I have also tried forgetting the network and reconnecting, but the same thing with the previous problem happens. The WiFi networking is off, and my phone is running iOS 8.0.2.

I updated my 6plus to iOS8.1 but it doesn't help with the wifi issue, together with all the troubles taking slots for going that "Genius Bar" for a phone replacement. I sold it to the 2nd hand market. Goodbye Apple, I don't think I will re-consider any of your Iphone product in the near future. I simply have suffered enough.

I've been following this thread and topic as I too, have been having issues where my wifi signal dropped and I had to reboot my phone for the wifi networks to reappear (iPhone 6, 64gb)

I called Apple because there was a two day wait for a Genius Bar appointmrnt (no excuse for that) but I have to say I was very impressed with the phone technician. Did we solve my issue, no. However, he did admit that Apple is aware of some phones having a wifi connecting issue that we have all been discussing here. After 8.1 was released, someone from Apple's engineering team reached out to me and asked me to please download the update as they were sure it would fix the problem. Well, that was two days ago and I haven't had a single instance of my wifi connecting being dropped. they said they are going to call again this afternoon to follow up and see if my problem was fixed.

This is why I buy Apple products. In my several years as an Apple customer for my iPhone, iPad and imac, I have always received top notch customer service. I know there is good and bad in everything, but I'm very happy with them for fixing this issue. 8.1 fixed it for me and I hope others have been helped as well.

Same here, I got the Iphone 6 plus from reseller at around 100USD more than RRP from Apple on 13th OCT. I updated to iOS 8.0.2 right after phone was activated. No luck in getting connected with my TP-LINK router. I sent online report and got an case ID, I called to the online technical, tried to do all the reset on the phone and on the router, not successful. I connected my phone to another router, it was working fine. So next day, I called up and discussed the issue. The operator was helpful and resourceful. However, nothing can be done to solve it. I also asked if they had any similar reports about wifi issue. The answer was negative. He suggested me to visit Genius Bar.

Not sure if this happen in US or other counties. The reservation of Genius Bar requires sending a SMS to apple phone number in taking a code to go into system for the Genius Bar slots. Unfortunately they only allow you to make booking in 2 days advance. Without any booking, the code will be considered used and it would be expired. I made the reservation and discussed with the staff at the bar. No solution and he suggested to wait for iOS8.1 on the coming Monday (which was 20th OCT) or I could get a replacement phone at that time but it wouldn't be a brand new phone. After you spent 1100USD for a phone, will you be willing to change for a 2nd hand? Expected that would be someone's return phone as well. So I told them I decided to wait for update.

Update to iOS8.1 was not resolving anything so I had to make reservation again. A I have no clue when the system updates with more slots, I kept trying until the message popped up, 1 mobile phone number allows a max of 3 codes PER WEEK. I used all quota for 2 of my phone and I got fed up and I called technical support again. They suggested me to walk-in to the shop to discuss with the staff. I went to the shop and discussed the issues that I had, they said at that point, no replacement phones were available. What I have to do was wait for 3 to 4 days. I got so upset and I talked to the shop manager Miss Karen. Unfortunately, she said everything was company policy and I also said I understand, they wouldn't be able to make any policy change easily. Then I kept my defect phone and went home. However, I also found out my phone had QC issue. when I check on the side, there was a gap between the phone and the display.

Unset with everything, I decided to sell it to the 2nd hand market. One week of nightmare and frustration... Should I buy back another 6plus when it becomes available? I really don't know.

All,

I tried the escrge 1843 method (iPad Air 2 WiFi Connectivity Issues: RESOLVED) last night and it definitely made things a lot more stable but speed was affected. My usual Speedtest app gives me 50 Mbs Down but after setting the networks to 5ghz - A only and 2.4ghz to B/G the maximum I was able to achieve was 25 Down.

Even after sleep and wake for several hours two out of three devices (IPad Air 2 and 5S) remained connected but unfortunately my iPhone 6 Plus which was behaving better on the previous 5ghz setting lost connection this morning and I had to toggle Wi-Fi on/ off.

So in summary this method is the best temporary fix to date (especially for Linksys/Cisco routers) albeit not perfect for all IOS devices in the same household.

I'm definitely going to buy the new ASUS AC68 router which I think will solve the problem as I'm hearing good reports from numerous sources!
