iPhone 6 WiFi Issue

I currently own an iPhone 6 Verizon and I get WiFi speed around 1 Mbps. I know it's not my router because the WiFi works perfectly fine on my laptop and my Dad's Galaxy Note 3. I have reset the network settings couple of times, and even though it would get my regular speed back for half an hour or so, it would decline to around 1 Mbps. I have also tried forgetting the network and reconnecting, but the same thing with the previous problem happens. The WiFi networking is off, and my phone is running iOS 8.0.2.

iPhone 6, Verizon, 64GB silver, iOS 8.1.

I am having issues with SLOW connectivity on any wifi network. I only notice the issue when I try to stream a video. I have tried every reset I can think of with no fix yet. I complained to the Verizon store last week and they claimed I could come back if iOS 8.1 doesn't fix the issue and ask for a warranty replacement... Any thoughts?

I got rid of my Linksys EA4500 and got the ASUS RT-AC68U - AC1900. I was due an upgrade to get on the AC standard anyway so wasn't overly annoyed!

Since testing it over the weekend it seems that my Wi-Fi issues have been resolved. I haven’t had a single drop or had to toggle the Wi-Fi switch on/off to get it the connection live again. Speeds have been consistent and this is across all my devices including :

iPhone 6 Plus

iPad Air 2

iPhone 5S

Macbook Pro Retina – 2012 non AC version

I hope this lasts but so far so good although I appreciate this is a deep routed iOS 8 problem that only occurs with certain router brands / chipsets.

Either way apple need to resolve this in the next update for the vast majority of us and this certainly shouldn’t force us to upgrade our existing equipment!

Good luck to all and I’ll post back if things start to get sour again!!

I reset my router and network extender to broadcast 5GHz vs. 2.4GHz. That has vastly improved my wifi performance on the two iPhone 6's we have. Our 5th gen. iPod touches (2 of them), iPad Air, old iPhone 5, 2x Android tablets all work/worked fine with the 2.4GHz broadcast. We have a 1 year old Lynksys AC router. Anyways I am sure it's my fault and in no way has anything to do with the hardware or software.......................... Good grief.

I've been trying to find a solution for my slow iPhone 6 wifi connection vs my iMac wifi connection, the iPhone registers 1.5Mbps speed & the iMac at 12Mbps (connected to an airport express) i was tinkering with the settings for handoff & the moment i turned handoff, the iPhone 6 now registers 12Mbps speed. I hope apple gets to fix this fast as i like to use the handoff feature.

I just got the 6+ and was having the same issues. Super slow wifi on phone but indicating I had strong connection, plus my laptop was running very fast from same router. VERY frustrating. I did a network reset on my phone and that didn't work unlike other suggestions I read on other threads. Finally reset my home router to WPA2 (AES) from WEP and so far so good. I had no idea what all that meant when I read this information on another thread, but I googled it and found it on Wikihow. Had to share that it is working for me. Good luck!

Same problems here with my iPhone 6 – but now solved! 😉

  1. Reset all network settings on your iOS Device (Settings -> General)
  2. Find out which DNS is best for your Wifi by installing and running namebench (Link: https://code.google.com/p/namebench/)
  3. Change your WiFi DNS in your iPhone connection to that result ✅
  4. Last (wait to) install iOS 8.2! I'm using the beta and that fixes the issues.🙂

iPhone 6 Plus here, same problems everybody are reporting.

Not even fixed by iOS 8.1.3!!!

Tried all the possible hints from the web, things go better for minutes then a nightmare again!

Anyway the best thing is to turn off the Location Service...

My iPhone 5s already had problems with WiFi (could only turn off cellular data to make this wifi working) my iPhone 4 is the best one of them!

...why did I buy other 2 bad working iPhones? 😝

Apple you have a breaking news: I'm tired to try to fix your faulty software!!! (I'm seriously considering an android)
