iPhone 6 WiFi Issue

I currently own an iPhone 6 Verizon and I get WiFi speed around 1 Mbps. I know it's not my router because the WiFi works perfectly fine on my laptop and my Dad's Galaxy Note 3. I have reset the network settings couple of times, and even though it would get my regular speed back for half an hour or so, it would decline to around 1 Mbps. I have also tried forgetting the network and reconnecting, but the same thing with the previous problem happens. The WiFi networking is off, and my phone is running iOS 8.0.2.

Hi ..

Reset the device:

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

If that doesn't help either, even though it's working ok on the laptop and the Galaxy, restart the router then check Wi-Fi on your iPhone.

No data is lost due to a reset.

I have this same issue. Had it with 8.0 on both my iPhone 6 and my iPad Mini Retina but 8.0.2 seemed to fix it on my iPad Mini. But sadly, my iPhone 6 is still having the same issue. I reset my wifi network, I have rebooted my iPhone 6, and even tried restoring although I knew that that doesn't reinstall the firmware. Nothing has worked. Download speeds are erratic and never exceed 3 Mbs compared to the 30 my iPad is now getting.

i purchased 3 new iPhone 6's for myself, my wife and my daughter, all of them have the same wifi issue, if i reboot my iPhone then run the speed test on them they speedtest at 15 - 17 mbps, once i do anything web based like go on youtube stream a video, go on safari and download a page, anything on the web my wifi speed drops unbelievably all i get is the spinning circle i cannot stream anything, i cannot watch a 1 minute video, i have to put on pause and hope it loads most of the time it doesn't load, when i retest on the iPhone with the speedtest app i get download speeds of 0.73 1.07 and at times i get the message of latency test failed, the graph on the speed test looks like peaks and valleys.

we also own 3 iPhone 5's running 8 and 2 iPads running 8 a macbook an iMac 2 smart tv's and they all run fine on the wifi all of them get very good speed tests. I've done every thing with the iPhone6 to try and get it to work on wifi, also with the help of apple support, nothing has worked. today i had an appointment at the apple store, i brought my iPhone 5 with me also and connected to apple wifi so the the apple person could see the wifi issue i am having on the iPhone 6 as compared to my iPhone 5 with no issue running 8 on their store wifi, i was given a replacement iPhone 6. The end result with the new replacement iPhone 6, it has the same wifi issue 20 minutes later as the iPhone 6 i brought in, nothing has changed. Is it software or hardware? I'm not happy, almost 1000$ in phone's that we can't stream video while on wifi

when i brought my iPhone 6 into the apple store the person who helped me with this problem acted like he hasn't heard of this wifi problem, like i was the first person to come into the store with this wifi issue, but i see this problem all over the internet and also right here in this forum, I'm not sure if apple reads the posts or if they don't read the posts all over the internet or in this forum, but when i received the replacement iPhone 6 and it had the same issue 20 minutes later i felt i needed it to be documented with apple, so i called apple support and had it documented with them, the apple person on the other end of the call asked me what i wanted to do , did i want to go back into the store with the replacement iPhone 6 with same issue or wait to see if there may be a software fix, i told him i would wait and see, but i need to make an appointment for my daughters iPhone 6 with the same wifi issues. Me personally i need to have it documented just in case its a hardware problem when manufactured or if its a hardware and software problem with the iPhone 6, if its a hardware problem thats going to be a very big problem for apple, usually if its a software problem the come out with a fix pretty fast to fix the issue, but my 3 new phones have had this problem from day one, now replacement phone has this problem and no software fix. do they not know this problem exists? Me I'm not sure, but i know it exists. The appointments for the apple store are booked 3 days out thats a pretty long wait. i feel everyone should bring it to their attention, I'm not sure if the apple store employee has a great poker face when helping me or if they are not allowed to show emotion. does the iPhone 6 plus have this wifi issue?

Just a thought but did you setup your iPhone from iTunes when you got it? Were all phones setup this way?

We all know there are issues with wifi and bluetooth but over the last week I have tried several things as a temp fix. You may want to reset all settings on one phone to see if that helps. You will lose all your custom settings and will have to tweak the phone again once it is reset but maybe..just maybe this might help.

Settings -> General -> reset

Yes i set it up thru iTunes, Yes all phones are setup thru newest iTunes

I tried everything possible with first new iPhone 6 , also with the help of apple support.

I just took your advice on the replacement iPhone and reset all settings; ill try anything to get it to work correctly.

After it finished resetting i ran a speed test on the phone here are the results, download: 9.48 upload: 7.49 ping: 31

Then i went to you tube ran a two min video that barely ran lots of spinning, ran another speedtest after youtube.

Here are the results, download: 0.79 upload: 2.92 ping:46

Im going to run another speedtest right now as i reply, Download:0.24 upload:3.12 ping:27

Is your iPhone working fine after resetting all settings?

Well this is what I did to temporarily fix the problem. When I updated my iPhone 62 iOS 8.0.2 I did it using iTunes. But, my iPad I use the over the air update. My iPad Wi-Fi issues went away. So I decided to reinstall the 8.0 firmware on my iPhone six and then update my iPhone six with the over the air update. That has seemed to help the problem. I'm not going to say that all my problems have gone away, sometimes the download speeds on Wi-Fi revert back to very slow, however most of the time my Wi-Fi speeds are back to normal. Seems kind of backwards from what usually happens doing an update using over the air as opposed to iTunes.

this is a rather painful fixed so I wouldn't recommend it unless you are tired of the issue and don't want to wait for Apples fix.

I also did the 802 update over the air. I tried the speed test before and after watching youtube videos. My device ran at max speeds before and after the test. 30 down and 5 up both times.

So many variables in speed tests. The wifi issues seem to come and go for no reason. Guess we need to wait on Apple as this has been going on since V6 or maybe even earlier. I'm sure it is difficult for them to recreate and everyone's situation is unique.

All your phones have this problem and that is unique. If it was only one then I would think hardware but more than one is more problematic.

Good luck and hang in there. Hopefully someone else has additional suggestions.

i appreciate the advice Peterfromtn

but for how long do your wifi issues go away for?

My go away for however long i decide to do anything web based using wifi, i can turn off wifi wait a minute then turn it back on and do a speed test of 14 mbps

go to safari, Mlb or youtube 2minutes later and get the choppy video or watch the famous spinning circle, then retest the wifi speed on the iPhone 6 and its 0.79mbps or wait an hour after i have toggled off wifi and turned it back on and get the same results as previous after going on safari or youtube or mlb not sure if that means it worked for an hour or two minutes, and thats on all four iPhone 6's, i run my iPhone 5 next to it and i have not a single issue with the wifi.

i can watch 5 youtube videos on the 5 before i can watch one on the iPhone 6 and the circle is still spinning, thats 4 iPhone 6's with the same problem what are the odds of that happening? i have 3 iPhone 5's about 6 weeks before the new iPhone went on sale my daughters screen started popping of the phone, i thought she dropped it and broke it, about 3 days later my iPhone 5 screen started popping off i know i didn't drop it, went to apple store with both iPhone 5's and they replaced the iPhones with replacement iPhone 5's they said it was defected batteries that were expanding when being charged , the guy said what are the odds of it happening in the same household with 3 iPhone 5's, about a week or two i think they had a recall on the phones with the expanding defective battery. Should i of not brought back the iPhone 5 back because i knew i was going to get the new 6 for all of us, if the problem is brought to apples attention they will fix it , if not many people bring in the iPhones with the wifi issues they will ignore it, seems like people are hoping theres a software fix coming,

I love apple products we have a lot of them in my household, but if not for iPhone 5 all i could do is text and receive phone calls on the iPhone 6 nothing web based, or i could just use cellular data, AT&T would love that! I'm so glad i had the iPhone 5's replaced!

Reinstalling 8.0.2 from OTA has seemed to cure my issue. I have been consistently been getting 30 Mbs download on Ookla and videos don't seem to hang anymore. Watched a college ball game HD on the ESPN app at a restaurant last night with no issue. I truly believe it's a software issue not a hardware. Since you have 4 phones with the issues, maybe it's worth your while to do what I did and revert back to 8.0 and then download and reinstall from OTA. I realize with your slow wifi speeds it will take a while to download, but it just may work. It worked for me.
