Touch Screen unresponsive after iOS 8 update

My 1 year old 64GB iPhone 5 touch screen started to become unresponsive after iOS 8 update

It's not consistent. Touch screen functionality will seize whilst phone is being used for either answering calls, typing messges, surfing, gaming etc and won't become responsive until it is turned off and on again (via power button). Home button is functioning with no problems.

As the phone is now out of its warranty period I want to verify if it's the OS that's causing this or do I actually have a hardware issue.

zoom is not an issue.

your suggestion did nothing on my phone. Unfortunately.

I have more like random phantom texting,( letters I do not select ) screen minimizes and changes between apps. Without me touching it. More like its possessed.

Before the update my phone was great.

the screen problem is not consitent, it's random.

I Really don't have patience for this. Apple makes so much money

their iOS updates should be bug free considering what we pay for these

useless products

I Went from replying to an email to my phone calling someone in my contacts.

this is unacceptable.

I want to mention that I have iphone5 ios8.0.2 - After update I began experiencing touchscreen issues, landscape issues. Often I can't slide to open, slide to restart, slide for next screen, slide to close apps, etc. If I make or receive a call my phone will not allow any touch to end call. I have to reboot phone after each call. In iMessage I often can't type certain letters and when I switch to landscape suddenly I can type a few letters - but only temporarily. it is random and not consistent. I'm rebooting numerous times a day for past 5 days - and often only solves briefly. I've experienced phantom typing and long pauses between typing a few letters.

Some of you have mentioned issues with accessibility functions such as zoom, follow focus, voice over etc - and I can promise you these are not the issue. And like many others, I've never had any issues with my phone whatsoever until upgrade. That seems a very consistent comment. [Note: Some Level10's on here suggest reset iphone settings which will cause no issues and won't reset any data, but in fact I've read numerous forums mentioning a bug with reset settings in that it could wipe your iwork files - so I'd recommend backup your icloud docs to other location before doing]. I will also note that I thought for a moment it might be tied to a bug starting with facebook - but I've ruled that out given that I haven't opened fbook for a few days while trying to solve this issue.

I will reset my iphone settings now - and if you don't hear back from me by tomorrow then this worked. I've backed everything up and am hoping for the best. I really dont want to waste my time restoring to factory defaults....

Hey Everybody!, Yes updates are risky especially if no one is backing up before hand.

To avoid this make sure your updating in a safe environment, not public, not a friends, not a neighbors.

If the wifi has a virus your update can and will be corrupt.

BACK UP YOUR DEVICES!!!!! Either using iCloud or iTunes either one can be done through your iTunes application on Windows and on Mac.

If you notice that some issues came with your newly updated SOFTWARE then you got a back up you can go back to, To restore your iPhone from before the update.

"What? You can do that?!" -_- Yes...

Once all is well and you got your old software running try again to update or don't. This is simple stuff guys all the tools are there for you to use! USE THEM.

Thanks.
