iOS 8.0.2 Settings App Notification badge won't go away!
I have updated my iPhone 6 128GB to iOS 8.0.2
The red "1" on the settings app didn't disappear. I have tried restarting, hard reset, didn't work.
Any suggestion?

iCloud issue
I found a quick fix for app store notification issue
settings>appstore>automatic downloads>updates>on
does not fully resolve issue but it helps if you dont want to see that annoying notification.
I Fixed mine by deleting the apps that were at the top of the update list under "updates available". I pressed and held the app on the springboard and deleted them. Then went back into AppStore and downloaded the apps again. After they installed there were no more update notification bubbles. So give that a try folks.
Yeah. When your next app needs updating.
It will happen again.
Sorry to disapoint. But that's not a fix ;(
This worked for me go Settings>iTunes and App Store>Automatic Downloads> Turn on Updates
I have the same thing… 6+, 8.1
same issue... please fix Apple

Thought it worked for a minute.
The minute you turn updates back off again, so that they don't use up all your data plan, there comes that little red icon....
Incredible...
Hi, I solved this problem!!!
I had this problem on my iPad but I believe it will work for your iPhone as well.
Step 1: Wait for the next iOS update
Step 2: Wait two more days. Just to make sure that Apple won't recall it.
Step 3: Use the battery to less than 50%
Step 4: In the "Software Update", choose "Download and Install". Don't worry, iPad will only download it and tell the update cannot be installed because not enough battery.
Step 5: Now you see a number "1" at the column of "Software Update". The annoying icon number "1" finally makes sense.
Step 6: Turn off the iPad and turn it on
Step 7: Charge it more than 50%, let's say 60%.
Step 8: Install the update. iPad will restart automatically.
Done!!!
With respect, lzlsnake163com…
Isn't that really a workaround: glad it's effective for you?
But surely from a coding perspective, a fix needs to be applied that sets or unsets whatever the 'Updates available' flag is set/unset according to comparison between iDevice and iTunes etc.
Isn't everything else just a temporary fix?
Good luck!
I am having the same issue. I opened up a help ticket with apple support. They told me to back up my phone to cloud then restore my iPhone in iTunes. The red number is still showing up. I have given up, I am moved it out of sight for now.
Hi Do a Factory Restore back iphone up to ICloud insettings. Then turn find my iPhone off in icloud. Then go to reset Restore iphone back to Factory set up. Use the same Apple ID & password then you will get all your Apps & Data back. Cheers Brian
Thanks for the reply! I did all of that but the red number is still showing up. I contacted apple again, they agreed it's most likely a bug that will get fixed on the next update. They logged my issue as a bug so maybe on the next update it will be fixed for all. 🙂
Just upgraded two 5S's to 8.1.1 (one work phone one home).
Work ad the 1 badge and I upgraded it via itunes since I didn't have the space to do it over the air. 1- went away. Home didn't have the badge yet but I upgraded over the air. Now home has badge even thought it is at latest version. Backup and restore from itunes did not fix. Definiitely very annoying although I understand it is not a critical bug. Since it's been around and reported for some time, very dissapointing that it made it into 8.1.1. I guess I will have to be annoyed for a few weeks until the next upgrade comes out. Luckily I will know when that is based on my other devices telling me since my home iphone is now unable to alert me to new versions.
I Mentioned a temporary fix to remove the red notification bubble. Delete the app that says it needs updating. Then go back to App Store and reinstall.
Hi guys,
I solved the problem (thanks to this old post)
It seems the wrong notifications are due to some app that you didn't update before update IOS (for IOS versions issue compatibility).
Here what the user Robert Schmid wrote in the old post:
Go into the App Store. Select Purchased → All . Now carefully scroll down the list. You will find one or more apps with a status of Install instead of Open . Go ahead and install them. If you have not upgraded to iOS 7 you may get a message that says that the latest version requires iOS 7, but you may download the latest compatible version. Touch Download and it will install.
The post is old (2013) so he talks about IOS7, but the issues started with the introduction of different versions apps (IOS6, IOS7, and now IOS8).
Probably you'll see the iCloud icons instead Install, touch it and install all the apps with download or iCloud icons. After that the red notification bubble disappear 🙂
Do it on all your devices where the there is the problem. It works!
Cheers,
