Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is still randomly disconnecting from my home WiFi, even after the latest OS update. My spouse also has an iPhone 6 and has experienced no issues with WiFi connectivity. When I spoke with Apple earlier in the week, I was told that they were aware of this issue with iOS 8 and would be working on a solution that should be released in 24 hours. I have a $700+ phone that doesn't stay connected to WiFi. Ridiculous. Apple really needs to get it together. This is the worst OS release yet.

I've had a 5S for about six months, and from time to time it will ask/tell me "enable cell data" and that I am not on WIFI (I am).

What I have had to do, and 'works' is kill all the active apps, and then it is happy again!

Safari, Tumblr, whatever there is sitting there "open" but supposedly idle and in background.

I have made sure to disable any background task from running as much as the Setting controls allow.

Never had this with Samsung Note II but it had battery degradation (and swelling eventually) which was one of the reasons I changed (and curiosity as I have a number of tablets, computers and laptop, and use to have the Touch 4G).

I think it is an iOS issue and also hoped 8.x would 'fix' it - or all the apps would have to be upgraded.

But if Apple and app developers don't know it is happening and why.... not hopefully anymore 😟

I've owned all iPhone models (3, 4, 5 and now 6). I must say that the iPhone 6 is a piece of s***!

I never had problems connecting to my home wifi network with the previous models, but the new iPhone 6 constantly drops out of my wifi network and I cannot do anything with it without having to use the AT&T data plan when I am at home!

I found out that SEVERAL other iPhone 6 owners are having the same issue! Some guy suggested that we need to use WPA or WPA2 setting and NOT WEP in order for the iPhone 6 to work. I agree with this because my office wifi network uses WPA and the iPhone 6 seems to work ok with the wifi.

I think this is a very poor job by Apple in testing their products! Their iPhone should work with ALL wifi settings and not just one!

Apple now only wants to make more money by releasing their products quickly and, as a result, did not test their products carefully.

We, the consumers, end up with a piece of s**t!

The issue isn't related to your phone. It's the operating system and you'll likely see the issue on any of your other iOS devices. You haven't read this thread have you?

They definitely have a problem .. I have spent 6+ hours on the phone with apple advisors and I already knew there was a problem with the latest update. I have a IPhone 5 and I can't download new or update existing apps via Wi-Fi. I can do all the apps via cellular just fine. My wife has the 5C and she is now working fine with the 8.0.2 with NO issues. I told them they had an issue with the Wi-Fi in their software before I spent 6+ hours on the phone with 4 different advisors. After all of that time they agreed with me ..... Now waiting for a call back from the last advisor not later than Wednesday.

I have experienced the same problem with iOS 8.0 and 8.0.2 on an iPhone 6, iPad mini and iPad Air. I'm personally convinced it's a bug in iOS 8 that didn't get identified or fixed in 8.0.2. Historically, Apple never admits to what they feel are minor bugs in their software. If 8.0.1 didn't kill cellular service, they'd not have mentioned it but instead worked to roll out an update. Apple is very good about trying to fix bugs as quickly as they can. They just don't talk about it. The Apple support advisors are usually not in the loop either. There will be an update soon to launch Apple Pay which is to begin in October. If we're lucky, they will also fix this and several other problems with the current software.

What i've noticed is that my iphone 5s confuse to determine what connection that it connected to. It happens if my cellular data on along with the wifi, but when i make the cellular data goes off, the wifi is fine no issues at all.

perhaps ios 8.0.2 ruin this things. So for now maybe all you have to do is switch on off your cellular data manually depends on what you need

Why does iOS 8.0.2 not resolve the issue of WiFi connectivity with iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6?
