Airport Utility cannot find airport express

Hi!

I have an Airport Extreme base station (model A1408). I also have a 1 generation Airpoirt Express (model A1264). When I plug in the A1264 to the wall my Airport Utility on Windows 8, iPhone and iPad find this device and I can configure it. Everything works like a charm.

Today I bought a new Airport Express (model A1392). When I connect that device to the wall it does not appear in any of my Airport Utility apps and is just blinking in amber....

Anyone that can tell if/what I am doing wrong or have any suggestions to what I can do?

Kind regards

Leyan

I also have an AiPort Express A1264 that cannot be found by my AirPort Utility 6.3.1 (631.4). When I try the reset as described in the Sep 26, 2014 post get one of two results: "No configured AirPort base stations have been found. AirPort Utility will continue searching." and the wheel of death goes on forever; or "Other Wi-Fi Devices" does show AirPort Express, but once selected the connection drops before it finishes and I'm asked to try again.

Any suggestions?

I would also like to say thank you. I have been using Airport Utility on Yosemite, and sometimes it sees my Airport Time Capsule, and sometimes it doesn't (despite that fact that the iMac is connected to the internet via the same Airport). I found this thread, and read the tip from the article to switch IP6 to Linked-local, and voila! No more issues connecting to the Airport. With regards to Apple: Why? Lame! With regards to this forum: Awesome! Thanks!

OK my turn.

I recently changed out my WAP (Dlink 655) for a dual-band comcast modem/WAP and now have a new network to which I need to connect my Airport Express A1264. I am running OSX 10.10.2 and Airport Utility 634.17. I have done the default reset and the AExp is obediently flashing "slow amber" (seems like someone had to choose that description deliberately). When I try to set up using Airport Utility, the AExp cannot be found, including under the "Other Wi-Fi Devices" button. On my iPhone 6 Plus, when I try to follow the above steps, there is no option under Settings>W-Fi having anything to do with Airport devices. Do I need to update OSX/AUtility/iOS or is there something else I need to do? Thanks.

My old Airport Express (1264) drives me crazy and my issues may relate to those discussed here.

As far as I remember, I never managed to combine both airplay & wifi but never had a real need for this. Now, I want to use airfoil to airplay from Deezer and need both.

I've played around a couple of hours without any success + somehow unpredictable behaviours.

I've disactivated the Wifi on my modem/router (Proximus bbbox 2); changed (when I could view the airport in the utility) the airport mode to/from bridge / NAT & DHCP and even updated the firmware.

Last time I managed to view the airport in the utility, I tried to switch it back to DHCP & NAT; the update took quite a while and ended with "an error occurred while updating the config". Since then, I did not manage to connect with the airport (tried plugging / unplugging the modem cable / activating/ deactiving wifi. Not sure if I tried all combinations since I got a bit bored

The only way to manage to get the green light on the airplay is to disactivate the modem/router wifi and plugging the modem cable in the airport.

Until recently, I managed to airplay on the station (but loosing internet) with the modem cable unplugged; this worked though the station led was amber

Thanks for your help and tips
