iMessage and FaceTime not working on iPhone 6 iOS 8.0.2

I got an iPhone 6 a couple of days ago and I haven't been able to use iMessage and FaceTime properly since I bought it. The iMessage and FaceTime toggle areas are usually saying "waiting for activation" and sometimes when they activate and everything looks fine, I can send iMessages but I do not receive them at all. Text messages however, are working perfectly but I obviously didn't buy an iPhone to send sms. I have tried reseting network setting and the hard reboot but hey didn't work. Went to the apple store in southampton and even they couldn't help me at all. Can anyone help me here? I'm starting to panic.

I Also had the same problem as you!

IF you go into general And then go to the messages setting and tap the send and recieve options for imessage you will see that your number and email adress are there!

IF you tap on the email adress then you will recieve imessages sent to you on your mobile number, therefore this will enable you to use imessage on the iphone 6.

hope this was helpfull, if you dont understand you can always ask and i will post pictures of how to do it.

I spent 2 days on the phone with Verizon and Apple with the iMessage and face time issue. Just upgraded my phone to a 6s and everything worked fine until I upgraded to iOS 9.2. I could txt but the receiving end would show it came from my email. I could not txt to a non-smart phone. Under the settings, send and receive, my phone number (grayed out) appeared with a circle next to it that looked like it was searching (my phone # was uncheck) and my email was checked. If I unchecked my email, I couldn't txt anything.

I tried everything that was listed on the previous reply's from above. Apple finally gave up and told me to return the phone back to Verizon. I took the phone back. Finally when I arrived at the store the manager wanted to try one more thing, he replaced the sim card and bingo my problem went away. The solution bad sim card.

I'm still scratching my head that upgrading from iOS 9.1 to 9.2 would cause a sim card to go bad, but strange things happen in electronics world!
