Iphone 6 Battery Drain Bug (Found ?)

I have a iphone 6 - 128gb model with T-Mobile as the carrier. To put it nicely the battery life of my iphone is PATHETIC!!!!! After turning the nice screen to 50% brightness and disabling about every feature I paid for on this phone here is what I get: With the phone turned on and the home page sitting idle - wi-fi on, my phone will drop 14-16% in 20 minutes. I can literally watch it go down 1% in little over a minute. I have spent hours reset from new etc.. and it still has the issue so I am going to go to the Apple store and demand a replacement.

Anyhow, in trying to find the source of the problem I discovered what MY biggest source of the battery drain. It is the "Wi-fi calling" feature. It does not have to be being used it kills my battery even at idle.. Turned off I may still loose 3-5% in 20 minutes but FAR, FAR less. Also my phone does not heat up with this disabled.

I posted this in case anyone else is experiencing the same issue, and needs a phone that they can actually unplug from the charger.

I have the same problem with the battery draining, I can literally watch it going down and I'm not doing anything! I have changed all the settings and it still hasn't fixed it for me! We don't have Wi-Fi calling in NZ so I don't know what else the issue could be.

I also tried to charge my phone at work via my laptop and after an hour it hadn't charged at all. I was using the USB I got with the phone and the phone "said" it was charging.

ALSO, I tried using my iPad charger after feedback from others on another thread but that doesn't charge it any quicker.

This issue is disappointing and extremely annoying if it means I can only use my phone when I "have to" and plan my day around how to keep my phone charged so I can use it all day.

Downside, I brought my phone from the apple site and we don't have an apple store in NZ😠

I don't have "Wi-Fi call" under "phone" - this option is not on my phone.

One thing that has helped (a little) is turning the brightness right down. If I turn it up again I notice the battery going down quickly. However, if I turn it down again, it still drains. It only seems to slow down the drainage after its fully charged and I don't touch the brightness at all. I've sent a few texts and made three phone calls in the span of two hours and it's on 80%. Pretty poor still but better than yesterday.

My issue is with a specific wi-fi protocol and wi-fi calling enabled. The yo yo's at the genius bar are worthless and Apple will not acknowledge the issue. In my case they told me to but an Android phone to sole the problem. As I already spent $$$ on the iphone 6 I just keep the wi-fi calling feature off and I have no issues. If you don't use wi-fi calling perhaps it is also related to the same wi-fi protocol chewing up the battery. The stupid diagnostic test that apple uses will just show them the home screen is eating up the power and they will tell you to keep your phone turned off.

Sorry no solutions besides that!

I feel a bit foolish, but my phone is 100% better now. It just takes a few decent full charges to get the battery life up to where it should be. So if you have a new iPhone, be patient, charge it every night and in a couple of days it should be fine. As for everyone else's issues, all the best on finding the solution.

PS Love the new iPhone - I held my old one and it feels soo small!!!

Could you please confirm if you were noticing the Home & Lock screen eating up most of your battery before you let your phone go though a few full charge cicles?

User uploaded fileI agree that you may have a good points, new batteries do require full charge cicles, but what seems to bother most of people in this topic is the home screen to drain so much of battery as shown in my picture below:

my battery is draining bad too. I put the phone in airplane mode and it went from 100% to only 99% in 8.5 hrs. turned the cell part back on and went down 10% in 3hrs. this made me believe that its my wireless provider because they have a contract with another provider to use their towers when the main provider doesn't get signal. seems like my phone might be roaming all the time trying to figure out what tower to use (withought roaming charges). I also manually locked on to 1 provider and battery is still draining....
