Iphone 6 Battery Drain Bug (Found ?)

I have a iphone 6 - 128gb model with T-Mobile as the carrier. To put it nicely the battery life of my iphone is PATHETIC!!!!! After turning the nice screen to 50% brightness and disabling about every feature I paid for on this phone here is what I get: With the phone turned on and the home page sitting idle - wi-fi on, my phone will drop 14-16% in 20 minutes. I can literally watch it go down 1% in little over a minute. I have spent hours reset from new etc.. and it still has the issue so I am going to go to the Apple store and demand a replacement.

Anyhow, in trying to find the source of the problem I discovered what MY biggest source of the battery drain. It is the "Wi-fi calling" feature. It does not have to be being used it kills my battery even at idle.. Turned off I may still loose 3-5% in 20 minutes but FAR, FAR less. Also my phone does not heat up with this disabled.

I posted this in case anyone else is experiencing the same issue, and needs a phone that they can actually unplug from the charger.

All,

I have had battery drain issues since i switched from ATT to Tmobile. I owned an iPhone 6 on ATT with great battery life and when I switched to the Tmobile iPhone 6 battery life *****. The battery usage screen is worthless with one exception. You should be looking at the Stand By versus Usage time. I noticed my standby time was anywhere from 80% to 95% of the Usage time. This is a major indicator there is a problem with your phone. The app usage helps but it really only applies to apps, not a background process.

After slowly shutting of each app, process and account type I FINALLY found the problem. If I sign out of my iCloud account, my iPhone is fine. Everything else can be enabled and I am now getting about 25-50% usage compared to standby time. This is normal unless your are physically using your iPhone all day.

I have restored my iPhone as a new phone and just tried to load only my iCloud account. I just checked and the usage is back up to 80% of stand by time with the phone sitting idle. Unfortunately my problem is with something relating to my iCloud account. I may just choose to disable iCloud but this severely limits some of the enhanced features.

I would recommend giving it a try to see if that is your problem too.

Good luck.

In case this is of use to anyone...

I was having severe battery drain after a few weeks of purchase. My iPhone 6 128GB had been performing fantastically but then almost overnight the battery started draining so fast I could see the percentage going down. This was with no apps open and basically everything switched off (location, background app refresh, notifications etc etc etc).

My battery usage screen showed "Messages" as using between 30 and 50% of my battery usage, which compared to the images on this post seemed ridiculously high.

I was about to take it back to apple when I tried one last thing, switching iMessage and Facetime off. Things improved instantly. I have even now switched both back on and everything is fine, my battery is lasting easily the full day even with reasonable usage, just as it did when I first got it. iMessage and Facetime are both working fine so I think something must have got stuck and was in a battery draining loop.

Anyway I hope this helps someone!

I Just tried to ccondition my battery by draining it to 0 then fully charging, after it was fully charged I unplugged the charger from it, went on standby for an hr and battery dropped to 94%, went on fun for 5 min, played a game for 5 min, then sent about 8 texts, phone is now at 54% Apple phone batteries suck, I'm sick of spending hundreds of $$ on their new crap only for it to be pretty much useless exactly when the "new and better" phone is released

This might sound funny to you but do you own an iMac? I am fairly new to the Mac family as of July 2015 with an iMac & iphone6 (Blackberry & Windows cpu man my whole life and now a new job has me in the Mac family) & toward the middle of September started to notice a rapid battery drain...meaing on standby within 6 hours I would be down to 10%...went to apple got a new phone, changed Apple Id, restored from back-up 10+ times (yes mostly connected to itunes) & finally I noticed the amount of data my phone was using on the wi-fi and cellular...the problem was my iMac...the icloud settings on the iMac was the culprit. I logged out everything on my iMac related to my apple id on my iphone and BAM...i am now only on 65% from a full charge yesterday morning. I did sign back into calender, notes, and reminders on my iMac but did not sign into photos, email, nor icloud drive. I am going to contine to montior this before I log into each one.

Hope that helps...this was so frustrating b/c I always wanted an iphone to replace the blackberry...I think now I am on the right path.
