IOS 8.02 Problem

I recently updated my IPad to IOS 8 and just yesterday to 8.02. I use my iPad daily in my job and now after updating to 8.02 I am no longer able to log into my portal account on my college website. The only way for me to access my online classes, email, etc. is from the portal on this website. I have never had a problem with any IOS upgrade, but this essentially makes my IPad useless if I can't access what I need to. I saw that others had issues with a recent upgrade to IOS 8.01 and that in the meantime one could downgrade, but I saw a post yesterday that this is not possible now that 8.02 was released. So I'm hoping someone has an answer for me on what else I can do.

WWe just updated IPad 2 and 3 with IOS 8.02. Performance is horrid. Safari does not refresh pages, both Apple apps and 3rd party apps so slow we have gone back to using PC's until we see reviews or forum topics with positive comments on future updates.

I Suggest see how to roll back your update and then just wait.

Likewise - apps launch, but there is basically no/minimal network connectivity - safari just hangs.... Doesn't matter if I use 4G or WiFi

Its an all Apple household (Airport express+timecapusle etc) - never had such a bad experience with Apple products before. Can't even check for updates.... urghhh Looks like I need to now take time out and trek over to an apple store -

I get the same issue with my iPad 3 ! It became not fluent with many freezes and globally a slowest graphical response ... Really disappointed with this and my point of view is iOS 8.xx is not really compatible on devices minor to the iPad 4 and iPhone 5 . So apple , there are two options possible ! Please re open the downgrade to the iOS 7.xx for these devices or fix the problem within a 8.03 release faster..thx

Right now you're trying to get into that portal, and I can understand that. If I were having trouble with Safari (and by association the iOS 8.0.2 update), then I would try to isolate the problem this way. First, Safari has been changed with this update to its current state. Now, what you don't know right now, is if it's the current state of Safari (as its been updated) is the problem, or its something squirrely on your own setup, as it is right now.

If I were to test it out, I would want to check the operation of Safari on another iOS device (one that someone else says that they are not having a problem with) and see if you can access that portal through Safari. Or, you could go down to the Apple Store, grab one of the display units which will be running the current version of Safari and see if you can sign in there.

If you can't, then you've got a problem with Safari in its current upgraded state. And with that, I would go to Customer Support at Apple and report the problem. They'll do an update that will correct the problem you and others are having with that specific issue.

And in ordeer to work around that problem (if that's the problem you're having, that is "with Safari"), then I would try another browser at the app store. Sometimes another browser will not have a particular problem with a particular website that Safari might be having.

However, if you find that the current version of Safari is not the problem (by testing it out on another iOS device that is operating fine, or trying the Apple models at the store) ... then that means you should probably restore your iPad to its factory default setup. If Safari operates everywhere else (on other iOS devices) and doesn't have a problem, but you do on your device, then something squirrely his happening (probably something got corrupted in a setting or a file), and you need to restore everything to a factory default condition. This will make your system "new" as if it came off the factory floor that day.

Be sure to save all your data to a backup, though, before you start fiddling around with everything. At some point, after you've tested out the factory default setup, you'll want to restore your own data. For testing purposes, don't restore your data right at first. Just test out Safari on your new setup with your portal.

If the exact same things don't happen with Safari on the store demo models, then that would indicate that it's not Safari and the upgrade that is the problem ... but rather that you need to do a factory reset - to put your iPad back in "factory fresh" condition and then reload your personal data from your backup. Be sure to always do a backup before you start fiddling around, though.

You know ... I've got a few glitches in Safari (just for sake of an example) ... but it's not unuseable, and I know that Apple will issue a fix for it when they come out with their bug fixes. I just work around it for the time being and I know Apple will fix it.

For other things, that are major (like if you can't download any apps or if your machines never gets past restarting - just for example) ... then it's something you can't work around. There is no "one answer" for "all the problems with iOS 8" ... because not all the problems are related to iOS 8.

SO ... you just can't say that "all the problems" are Apple's fault and just leave it at that. You have to work "each individual problem" one by one and see what needs to be done, and that can be for each model of iPad, too, as some may have a problem and others don't.

I know the vast majority of the user installed base has no problem. Others have some very minor glitches, as I do. So, the ones that do have a problem, it simply has to be analyzed very specifically to just one problem at a time and arrive at a solution that way. It's doesn't do any good to lump it all into a category called "iOS 8 wrecked my machine" ... LOL ... as that's not troubleshooting ... :-) ...

If you've got a specific problem, address it one problem at a time, and start a new thread for that specific problem and try to work it through just on that specific problem. You'll never "get anywhere" if you just say, "iOS 8 is a disaster for me" ... as there's nothing to "get a hold of" for troubleshooting, you see.

AND ... if you want to help Apple do bug fixes, then report your particular problem to Apple Customer Support so that their engineers can analyze it and see if it's a bug, and then they can work on a solution.

We have 3 iPads and 2 iPod touches. All doing the same thing. The power is drained MUCH faster now as well. I honestly don't think just me. I definitely think the update did something that they do not know how to fix ......yet. Apple Customer Support has never done much of anything for me. I'll wait and see how long it takes before they fix this. Apple isn't as impressive to me as it used to be. I don't think they have the same aesthetic that they used to have. It's definitely more about the $$$ now.

Oct 7, 2014 9:47 AM in response to wil.juarez

I have been testing various apps and settings trying to find temp work arounds to the newest IOS update. Seems both Apple and 3rd party apps have taken performance hits and in some cases stabilty.

Installing Chrome to use rather than Safari has not made a difference. Facebook has proven to be the biggest issue, Google apps minimal problems.

In general IOS 8.02 has been on par with some Windows updates of the past IMHO. However, that said, the hardware does work in most cases. So my feeling is to just wait for another patch.

Overall IOS updates on devices has been at 1% of the IOS 7 user base last week to this week. I am sure Apple has noticed the halt since they really need most devices on the same IOS for support.
