IOS 8.02 Problem

I recently updated my IPad to IOS 8 and just yesterday to 8.02. I use my iPad daily in my job and now after updating to 8.02 I am no longer able to log into my portal account on my college website. The only way for me to access my online classes, email, etc. is from the portal on this website. I have never had a problem with any IOS upgrade, but this essentially makes my IPad useless if I can't access what I need to. I saw that others had issues with a recent upgrade to IOS 8.01 and that in the meantime one could downgrade, but I saw a post yesterday that this is not possible now that 8.02 was released. So I'm hoping someone has an answer for me on what else I can do.

Many users are awaiting the integration between iOS 8 and the new Mac OS - Yosemite. Since Yosemite has not been released yet, and is about to (but no announced release date, although it's supposedly in a Golden Master stage) ... you'll see the downloads of iOS 8 pick up dramatically with Yosemite. Also, it will pick up dramatically with the release of iOS 8.1, 8.2 and 8.3 ... which are said to ALL being worked on now.

Also many may be waiting on the release of iCloud Drive and "iCloud Photo Library". I know I'm anxiously awaiting "iCloud Photo Library" ... :-) ...

I got the Ipad Mini and after updating to ios 8.02 lots of features get stuck or dont work at all.. For example my camera sometimes rotates to the wrong position, my CALENDAR doesn't work at all and i have lots of issues with lots of Music Apps that i'm using as a musician....

Apple?! Why so unprofessional work? We pay you a bunch of money for your products and the last 2 years you make us lose our trust on those, with your actions.!!!

SSo I went to the Apple Store... They ran diags, claimed I needed a clean start -ok. Reset my iPad, updated firmware, restored my apps. I would say 10-15 improvement in stability - but Safari on WiFi (Timecalsule and Airport Express) is sti mostly unusable and requires a hard reset

- which takes 3-7 mins to come back. Apple Store answer - iPad 2 is too slow for iOS 8! Buy a new one - we have a trade in program...

IF IOS 8 is too slow, then why allow the update to happen or at least warn me when upgrading. This is not the Apple of the last decade - they have slipped a lot in the last 18-24 months.

I'm starting to see more and more iPad 2 users solving their problem ... just like this one just did ...

iPad 2 very slow since ios8

This shows all the other iPad users that it is entirely workable, once they solve their particular issue. Everyone has something unique in their own iPad, so that it's not one solution that fixes all, but a multitude of different solutions. That's what I'm seeing ...

For all those who are having issues with 8.0.2, try this:

Restore your iPad back to factory settings through iTunes and don't restore it from a backup.

  • Make sure that you've backed up to iCloud or iTunes, and download all of your photos to your computer.
  • When restoring, set up your device as a new rather than from iCloud or iTunes backup.
  • If the device working well after restoring, then just re-download your music and apps and make sure you are logged back in to iCloud.

Yes, this is a pain in the butt, and yes, you'll lose your messages, but it'll get your device back to working the right way. I know that iOS 8 can work well with an iPad 2, because that's what I have. You may also want to check how much free space is available on your iPad (Settings > General > About > Available). If you are down to MB rather than GB, that may be causing some problems, too.

Hope this helps.

After updating my iPad 2 screens went completely blank. Doing a complete restore but the screen is still blank. I'm able to see all my data in iTunes but the iPad display bank so I cannot log in using my pass code. The only option is to do a complete restore (2hrs). Additionally, you might want to turn off "find my iPad" in iCloud BEFORE you do a software update. This allows you to access your iPad from iTunes if you happen to lose the display drivers like I did. BTW...this is the second time it's happened to me with software updates. I think it's best to wait to install these updates and not be too anxious in my opinion.

As a follow up I have updated to IOS 8.1. In general some small improvement, but nothing of great note.

Safari is still slow, but it does lock less often. Facebook still has problems getting image, and slow. WIFI stays connected, but strength changes often.

This is based on IPad 2. Any other Apple products we will keep at the old IOS 7. My thoughts are to start treating IOS like Windows. Only upgrade when/if new hardware is purchased.
