iCloud for Windows Version 4.0 Photostream broken

Following the installation of iCloud for Windows Version 4.0 my photostream has stopped updating on my PC. All shared photostreams appear to be fine. My photostream is still working on myother apple devices and apple TV. I have turned my photo stream on and off, uninstalled and re-installed deleted all of the files in the C:/Users/Name/AppData/Roamin/Apple Computer/MediaStream and uninstalled and re-installed. All with no improvement.

Is this a bug in version 4.0?

This sort of worked for me on my Windows 7 machine. At first clicking on iCloud Photos icon in the left panel of Windows Explorer worked, but that stopped after a day. All I get when I click on that is a message that iCloud photos is not enabled, even though it is enabled. But if I go to the C:\Users\myname\Pictures\iCloud Photos\Shared\ folder, the shared photos are there and updating. But oddly (or maybe not oddly), the photostream photos are not updating in the C:\Users\myname\Pictures\iCloud Photos\My Photo Stream folder.

Hi matthew john:

I followed steps by 17seconds posted above. Here is a cut and paste:

I had the same issue - the only way I could get Photostream to work again was -

- DELETED all the photos in My Photo Stream album on my iPhone

- DELETED the "My Photo Stream" directory on my windows PC (the directory where iCloud 4.0 saves my Photo Stream pictures)

- Opened iCloud 4.0 in windows and deselected photos

- logged out of iCloud 4.0

- rebooted Windows PC

- On iPhone went into iCloud and disabled My Photo Stream

- rebooted iPhone

- Went back into iCloud 4.0 in Windows and enabled Photo's

- on iPhone went into iCloud and enabled My Photo Stream

Then all my NEW photo's started to synch properly again.

Still working great for me a week later. Good luck! It's crazy frustrating when you know it should work, isn't it?

I have had the same problem as everyone else on here. But I noticed every time you clicked on the iCloud it would bring it up in Internet Explorer. There is nothing I hate more than any version of IE. So I copied the address of the iCloud from the IE browser, I opened up Mozilla Firefox, I pasted it in the address bar, and hit enter . . . . .Now if you go to Beta Photos in your iCloud it will now work properly.

Problem is not just syncing photos. I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit) and simply cannot update to iCloud version 4 (actually the latest pushed out version remains 4.0.2, which still did not resolve installation glitch). There is a fatal flaw embedded in the Apple software installation package for all versions of iCloud for Windows Version 4 pushed out to date. Tried all work-around suggestions I could find here in the forums, but - unless suggested or officially endorsed by Apple - am not trying anything else. Every once and a while i get a window popping up asking me to update iCloud for Windows and I keep hoping to see a newer version than 4.0.2, as that version does not work (does not install successfully) .. but Apple has not yet addressed the issue. In the meantime, will keep running version 3.1 and keep eye out for updated version of iCloud for Windows from Apple.

Anybody at Apple following this issue? Can we get an acknowledgement of problem and commitment to address?

I am very frustrated that my photostream is not working either. I have had an iPhone since November 2013. The connection has broken 3 times. I was able to fix it the last two times, now it won't do anything. It started in December 2014 since I can tell that is when the pictures stopped syncing with my windows 8.1.

I like my iPhone 6 but it seems like there should be support for this problem. I will read through this thread this week and start uninstalling and reinstalling everything again.

It all started when I agreed to icloud photo library beta and changed my mind. Photostream stopped working immediately. I think it's an easy fix but I need the right person. I went to the apple store last weekend and they said to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. She said that they can't service PC's. They are not communicating right now...and it is so nice when it works!!
