After getting the iphone 6, incoming calls simultaneously ring on my kids' phones that are also on my account. How do I stop this from happening?

If that were true it would be a critical flaw, but it's not true. As I share my contacts and calendar with my wife through family sharing.
The solution is to go to SETTINGS, PHONE, CALLS ON OTHER DEVICES. Turn the feature off
The fix for me was in Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices.

Go to settings - phone- calls on other devices- turn off

You mean just like the post right above yours says? What about the posts in this thread that say it doesn't fix it?
On your handset: settings>phone>calls on other devices, and switch off 'allow calls on other devices'.
