Now I understand why this is happening. And found the disable/Unable option in the settings of any Iphones. I hope this help's alot of people. Knowing that other brands don't do this kind of thing. Apple did it again! They have good ideas, but be carfull when using this functions, because it can be dangerous when you don't other people to know your personal calls/ or other confidential information.
You go into settings/Phone/Calls on other devices (There you will be able to disable or enable the function). Do as you like, and hope this helped you Iphone lovers you.
Same thing is happening to me. I'm sure it's a glitch of the Iphones, because it can cause big problems when reselling your Iphone, and that you forgot to reset/ logoff from the Icloud.
I sold my Iphone to bad people, and forgot to erease everything. Sadelly, they were receiving all my personal information and calls, even after I loged out remotlly on the web Icloud internface on Apple's website.
It's very dangerous, no privicy at all. 😢

I made several tests with different Iphones I had, even without SIM cards the 2nd Iphone continues receiving calls from the previous SIM installed. And after installing a new SIM with a completelly different carrier, it continues receiving calls from the 1st SIM card.
It doesn't show an Icon of ''handoff feature''. It goes way beyond the basic feature. I see it more as a glitch from Apple. It's NOT normal receiving calls in a phone, without SIM cards.
Each Iphone needs to have a different Apple ID. That's the only solution I found after making different tests. And it does not have nothing to do with WIFI or Handoff feature.
Because, I even had a Iphone without SIM card that was receiving incoming calls during my tests.
Yes, your solution will work. But the real answer is that you should not share an Apple ID with another person. ESPECIALLY if there are things you don't want them to see. Apple IDs are personal. Anyone you share an Apple ID will can see a lot more than your phone history. They can see all of the texts you send. The photos you take. All of your contacts. Everything in your calendar. All of your notes. All of the apps you have. All of the music, videos and podcasts you have downloaded.
The functions you have described are there to make your life easier, but only if you are the only user of the associated Apple ID.

Of course, hacking the phone may well defeat this protection.
Settings, Face Time, iPhone Cellular calls to Off on their phones. You should also consider getting them their own appleID's for iCloud before they erase your contacts.
I have this same issue between my iPhones (5S and 5C), but they are legitimate phones with their own numbers, so ssschmidt's reply doesn't help with that.
Hi Lorifromla and ssschmidt
I have the same problem, 2 x iPhone 5 with their own vodafone numbers and apple ids. However for a long time we have used my appleid (iCloud) on all devices so we have shared calendar and contacts. We have separate email accounts. This has worked fine up until now.
Since upgrade to IOS8 they now both ring simultaneously when either is dialled.
I will try the FaceTime suggestion but if anyone else either experiences this problem or has a fix it would be welcome.
I think I finally found the solution: Settings -> General -> Handoff & Suggested Apps, then turn off Handoff.
Apple should have made it default to off (and certainly explained Handoff better).
I have had this problem aswell both on sms and calls since update 8. But as i turned off FaceTime (Settings>FaceTime> and turn off on both/all phones) and the Handoff setting turned off as described above.

Do you have same apple id on both phones? I also had different numbers but same apple id but this helped me. Also had the same with text msg
I have a question for everyone. When does this happen? Is everyone in the same house, or the same location? OK...guess that was two questions. Might as well make it a couple more..... Did this same issue occur to anyone before the iOS 8.x.x update, or moving to a new iOS device?
I have friends that this is happening to and I've looked everywhere posted above, but the only time that this occurs is when they are in the same house. If I call person A while person B is in a different geographical location on caller A's phone will ring. They are also on the same wireless carrier.
It happens across devices using the same Apple ID, it is not location based (though the devices also have to be in close proximity for it to work).
It did not happen before the iOS 8 update because it is a new feature introduced in iOS 8: https://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/continuity/.
I understand the continuity feature in iOS 8.....the problem is one of the devices is still on iOS 7
