Battery Drains in iOS 8.0.2 iPhone 5s

Yesterday i updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.0.2, since then my battery has drained really fast its gone from 100% to 80% in 10 minutes. I called Apple support and they ran a diagnostic test on the phone but nothing showed up.Does anyone have any solutions to why this is happening?, i always force close the apps after i finish using them so i honestly don't know why this is happening. Is it just iOS 8? if so can it be resolved in the next Apple software update?

I have the same exact problem with my iPhone 5s. Since upgrading from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8 and now 8.0.2, my battery drains very fast and the phone heats up more than ever.

Like you, I close all my apps on a regular basis, but the problem persists. Here are some of the steps I tried that did not solve the problem (not listed in any particular order):

- turned off Location Services for apps that don't need my location (which is most of them)

- turned off Background App Refresh for apps that don't need it (which is most of them)

- performed several hard reboots and regular power off/restarts

- turned off all System Services except Find My iPhone

- turned offSend Last Locationfor Find My iPhone

- turned off Share My Location

- reduced the screen brightness

- set Auto-lock to 1 minute

- changed my email from Push to Fetch every 30 minutes

- synced with the latest version of iTunes on my laptop

After all those steps (and probably a few I can't remember), my battery is still draining way too fast and the phone is heating up too much. It is unacceptable. I need Apple to release a fix for this ASAP.

my iphone 5s have the same issues , ios 8.0.2 it heats up , battery is unacceptable supposedly apple releases updates to get better for the phone.. ios 8 got features but still a pretty bad battery life. my phone dies while its "charging" . ios 8.0.2 isnt all good if the battery isnt reliable. time for apple to do something about the battery life instead of all the features it has to offer.

Guys,

I Need the phone for work, I couldn't wait until apple decides to solve it, so I decided to downgrade to iOS 8.0.0, at least it doesn't drain my battery THAT MUCH.

there are plenty of guides on the internet, but basically:

1) backup everything (all your data will be eased during the downgrade, no questions asked!)

2) Disable Find My Iphone

3) download the iOS 8.0.0 from Apple web site:

iphone 5s urls: (check the internet for iphone 5c, 5s, ipad...)

(CDMA): http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS8/031-05446.20140917.vuup2/iPhone6,2_8.0_12A365_Res tore.ipsw

(GSM): http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS8/031-05671.20140917.dyJlj/iPhone6,1_8.0_12A365_Res tore.ipsw

4) connect iPhone 5s to a computer with last iTunes version

5) Click in your iPhone name, hold Shift (in Windows or Option in Mac) and click "Restore"

6) It will ask you to locate the iOS file, selec the file you just downloaded and wait until it finishes...

7) Now you have iOS 8.0.0 back (thank god!)

this should not void your guarantee since this procedure was authorized by apple because of the problems with iOS 8.0.1.

I see no particular battery drain in my 5S since upgrading to 8 (or 8.0.2 for that matter). I always wipe the phone clean, and that prevents any incompatible or not updated apps to misbehave. My battery life time is no more no less the same as with 7.

Installing clean might be cumbersome for some, but it gives the best results in personal experience.

Unfortunately not alot of us have the liberty to clean our phones clean due to corporate applications and encrypted data which we use to communicate either personal or corporate use. That would be more of a hassle if I get rid of them, meaning I will loose the sync of 5000 emails that i have and all the other settings. If I need to do that I might as well move out of the apple world and pick something compatible which works until Apple gets their stuff straight. There are tons of options one can explore but time and efforts are something which are impacted even after spending ton loads of money.

Fix needs to come out and reverting changes for iphone 5s or separating OS from IPHONE 5S to iphone 6...That's the sort of approach microsoft had back in the day and base OS size kept becoming bigger and bigger making more security holes in the OS.

Iphone 5

I Too have been trying the same things to clean the phone/close programswoth no success. I feel that sometimes the touch interface isn't working well. An example might be that in an app, when I open a window in it, clash of clans, the close window button only works when I turn the phone vertical. When it is horizontal, I cannot get the window to close and i am touching the same spot every time. Also, I am constantly having typing errors/literally the wrong letter is chosen. Obviously I haven't suddenly gotten bad at typing. I've had the iPhone since iPhone Original.

Same battery problems. About 2.5 to 3 hours battery with a full charge. Phone turns off at 35%. Reach 1% occasionally, plug the phone in, immediately turns up to 35%. Crazy right.

things like zooming into this screen I am typing in right now is "funky" just not working everytime, don't really have an explanation or how to describe it. Overall functioN of the phone is odd. I left that typing error for function because those are the things happening. O and N are no where near capitalization button!

PHone gets extremely hot! Like before I am leaving the typing errors because it's happening this often. Obviously I am doing this on my iPhone right now. typing right now is extremely annoying. The keyboard is so large I am looking at a screen no taller than a letter button in horizontal.

THe he typing I feel is extremely important to me. I just noticed whats happening. If you are typing fast you can get two letters in before the capitalization turns off with automatic first letter capitalization.

Apps are again not functioning like before. Does anyone know if the iphone 6 accepts the opoperation system easier/functions better. Looking to get a 6 too. What do you all think? Yes or no getting the 6. I don't care about the rumors of paying too much. I have AT&T and don't have to do the 25$ a month thing some people do in addition to the payment plea for the phone.

iin summary the errors I am having are affecting The operation of EVERY SINGLE APP, not just in this app or another. It is everythIng.

In summary:

1. Typing and keyboard are terrible.

2. Every error or funky thing affects everything.

3. Battery terrible and have tried everything.

4. Charging seems dangerously hot.

5. home button doesn't always open the phone

6. Odd things like it thinking I tapped a button twice. ^^^ see the double return above. There is NO WAY I all of a sudden became a terrible typing on the Iphone. AGREED? Seems ridiculous And unbelievdaBlue. <<< HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

7. Seems actions are delayed, swiping, zoom, etc.

Even talked to one of those rude iphone experts at the store. had 0 advice to give me than the typical, hard reset, turn it off, full battery drain then charge. I've done it all. Even a full restore.and said "it's just because you have a 5, thinking of upgrading?" Haha I said "why would I upgrade? My phone should function properly whether I upgraded or not. Right? You are Apple and take pride in quality and well performance, that's why your products are so successful." "Well" they said "I have no more advice to give you than that's I've told you, have a nice day" they didn't even defend the 6 and whether it would function properly.

VERY UNHAPPY WITH TREATMENT At the store.

Regardless, can someone comment as to whether they are having the same issues?

i Left my typing errors so please excuse. Was taking forever correcting theM all. I did fix the ones that are completely impossible to figure out.
