Battery Drains in iOS 8.0.2 iPhone 5s

Yesterday i updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.0.2, since then my battery has drained really fast its gone from 100% to 80% in 10 minutes. I called Apple support and they ran a diagnostic test on the phone but nothing showed up.Does anyone have any solutions to why this is happening?, i always force close the apps after i finish using them so i honestly don't know why this is happening. Is it just iOS 8? if so can it be resolved in the next Apple software update?

Dear friend, I installed 8.1 and the iPhone gets hot. Way too hot. I did all the resets, restores, fresh installs, everything in 8.0.2. Now I updated to 8.1 and there is no change. I come from iPhone 3 and had them all, if there is somewhere who likes Apple, it´s me and trust me, I know how they work. If my iPhone goes from 100% to 80% in 30 minutes than I think I may talk about draining. And no, not watching movies or other heavy ****. Just checking mail, some Facebook and other normal things that would have taken 3% in iOS 7. So, before telling me what to do, think before you write. It seems that who is trolling could be you. I hate to go to Samsung but I hate it more to have a phone that is at 50% at 11 AM in the morning and I can not afford that.

iOS 8.1 seems to be better on this "Low signal" issue compared to 8.0.2.

And for the record, when I was at 8.0.2, I chose to downgrade to 8.0 and it resolved 80% of the "low signal" problem.

Whilst at work on 8.0.2, I was busy for 3 hours and left my phone on the desk and it went from 85% to 15% on it's own, most of it in Mail or Phone low signal-ling. Seems better overnight. Since installing 8.1 y'day, it went down by 3% all night. Though as most said, I'm sure WIFI would help with the drain. Keeping fingers and toes crossed.

How's everyone else who had problems on 8.0.2 doing on 8.1?

I believe I solved the same problem in my iPhone 5 device.

I had same kind of drainage problem since update to 8.0.2 from full battery to empty in less than 5 hours. When I checked which App was consuming battery I noticed it was Safari, even it had been closed in several days ago. After that when I opened empty Safari page I noticed that bookmarks keep updating at all to time (I used iCloud sync for bookmarks in different devices).

Then I simply took Safari sync away from iCloud settings and haven't have drainage problem in week (except today when I tried if 8.1 fix root reason and it did'nt).

Hope this helps someone else too

I've noticed that IN MY PARTICULAR SITUATION there is a direct correlation between using the headphone jack and battery drain. I don't have any "push" or "fetch" on my phone, and there are times that all I'm doing is listening to music, and I'll easily go down 10-15% before the end of the album. I haven't figured out a fix for this, unfortunately.

Any solution yet?

I have tried all solutions discussed here (reboot, a fresh install, turned off everything, ...) and did see any improvement. Now the standby time is less than 8 hrs.

I also tried iOS 8.1. The newer iOS makes the problem even worse. The phone becomes pretty hot (50-60 Celsius) even with normal daily use like email, web-browsing, and calls. The hottest area is on the side of the phone: I cannot not even hold it for very long time.

BTW, I went to a local Apple Store and talked to those "Geniuses". They did some tests and then told me that the hardware is okay. They still told me that the problem could be fixed by a fresh install of iOS.

I've noticed there are at least two 8.1 versions: 12B407 and 12B411. both make the problem worse.

8.0 through 8.1 heats phone and drains iphone battery for no reason, even while in standby with all services turned off. some versions more than others.

12B411 has another odd behavior: In standby (if you don't use the phone), battery will last for days (3 and counting), if you use it (for anything, from listen to music to webbrowsing or checking e-mail), battery drain goes like 1% per minute (can go worse if you are using the screen), which means no more than 2 or 3 hours using the phone.

Beware, latest itunes and iOS 8.1 won't allow you to downgrade to 8.0! It will raise error "3194", older fixes for that won't work.

Test parameters (for all my posts in this forum):

- new iphone 5s, which means new healthy battery with +100% capacity

- tested my battery with apple

- model A1457

- always setup as new iphone

- always turned off services like handoff, bluetooth, airdrop, background services, location base services, etc..

- only interfaces enabled were: WIFI and LTE (also known as 4G)

- screen brightness in minimium, without auto-adjust

WAITING FOR A SOLUTION FROM APPLE.

MY IPHONE IS NEW! IT COSTS ALMOST U$ 2000 IN MY COUNTRY, WHICH IS ABSURD.

Just made the mistake of upgrade my iPhone 5 to new OS 8.2. No battery life at all. This is unacceptable. I doubt any of us would have upgraded if we knew the phone won't stay on for more than a few hours.. Ridiculous. Beginning to really hate Apple. They knew this....

Too bad I love my iPhone. If this persists I might buy an older model with the old OS.

At least, they exchanged the phone for you.

I went to a local Apple store, told them the problem, and asked for an exchange. The answer was no. They claimed that the hardware is problem-free, and the cause of the problem is software. Again, they blamed those 3rd-party apps. I just wasted my time.

I feel very, very disappointed and frustrated. If Apple cannot or does not want to solve this issue in IOS8, can Apple simply let us downgrade to iOS7?!

I just got a iPhone 6, and after 3 days use, the same problem came back... Battery draining super fast, in battery usage my usage is the same as standby. The main culprit according to Battery usage is Safari, 72% battery usage. I don't use safari and its never open.

History - My battery drain problem started when i upgraded to iOS 8, and continued with the updates. I had a 5S, got it replaced and still the same problem, got a 6 and still the same problem. Battery usage is the same as standby, so it looks like the phone is sucking battery constantly. So it never actually goes into stand by, even though it is.....

Would be interesting to see what other peoples usage is under battery usage, Standby vs Usage and what program is using all the battery.

To all those people trying to fix this with restores etc... nothing worked for me... waiting for a proper update from Apple, (i miss Steve), until then i carry my charger every i go....!!!
