IOS 8.0.2 wifi issues

Hi, I have issues with my new iPhone 6 on IOS 8.0.2

Sometimes I lose wifi connectivity and disable / enable the wifi on Settings is not enough... only chance is to reboot the phone.

Well I have tried to reset everything already setting, network. And I do not think it's about the factory restore because I have one more issue except this one, battery life - I have to charge my phone every two hours. After the iOS 8 update I can see how the battery percentage goes down. And I know this is not about changing the battery as everything before the update was fine. So, will see what they say. And thanks for the advice I will keep it in mind.

All,

I tried the escrge 1843 method (iPad Air 2 WiFi Connectivity Issues: RESOLVED) last night and it definitely made things a lot more stable but speed was affected. My usual Speedtest app gives me 50 Mbs Down but after setting the networks to 5ghz - A only and 2.4ghz to B/G the maximum I was able to achieve was 25 Down.

Even after sleep and wake for several hours two out of three devices (IPad Air 2 and 5S) remained connected but unfortunately my iPhone 6 Plus which was behaving better on the previous 5ghz setting lost connection this morning and I had to toggle Wi-Fi on/ off.

So in summary this method is the best temporary fix to date (especially for Linksys/Cisco routers) albeit not perfect for all IOS devices in the same household.

I'm definitely going to buy the new ASUS AC68 router which I think will solve the problem as I'm hearing good reports from numerous sources!

Update on mine:

My "WiFi going away" issues appear to be resolved since I upgraded to iOS 8.1

Occasionally when I unlock the phone I will see the WiFi signal change from 3 bars -> 1 bar -> LTE but then it will pop right back to full WiFi signal whereas before it would just stay on LTE.

I do think it is some kind of software bug where it switches to LTE if it thinks there isn't a good signal and it sometimes gets stuck on LTE.

Keep reporting it to Apple and hopefully they will solve it for everyone still having the issue.

Even though mine seems to be working now I have a bad taste in my mouth from the whole experience.

Yes, I definitely do think it's ridiculous that we'd be forced to buy a new router, or in my case I don't have that option as my ISP requires us to use theirs. So I have to turn off my cellular data whenever I am wifi enabled. iOS 8.1 did not fix the issue for me. I will not buy Apple again. I liked the music but I think I can get iTunes on any phone. I don't think its a bug. I think the software requires a certain download speed so it continually looks for that without regard for what the user wants.

It just doesn't make sense. I have an old Linksys black and blue with rabbit ears and don't have the dropping issue at home on my iPad or iPhone 6. I cannot connect at all anymore at the local bar, however, which is real bummer. Data use grows. Everyone at the bar just says get rid of that junky phone. None of the iPhone people can connect to their wifi at all anymore. Just spins and won't connect. Galaxy users, no problem. 😕

I got rid of my Linksys EA4500 and got the ASUS RT-AC68U - AC1900. I was due an upgrade to get on the AC standard anyway so wasn't overly annoyed!

Since testing it over the weekend it seems that my Wi-Fi issues have been resolved. I haven’t had a single drop or had to toggle the Wi-Fi switch on/off to get it the connection live again. Speeds have been consistent and this is across all my devices including :

iPhone 6 Plus

iPad Air 2

iPhone 5S

Macbook Pro Retina – 2012 non AC version

I hope this lasts but so far so good although I appreciate this is a deep routed iOS 8 problem that only occurs with certain router brands / chipsets.

Either way apple need to resolve this in the next update for the vast majority of us and this certainly shouldn’t force us to upgrade our existing equipment!

Good luck to all and I’ll post back if things start to get sour again!!
