Defective Iphone 6 screens?

Can anyone tell me if there is a defect in Iphone 6 screens?

I have had this phone all of 4 days and it is broken! It did not survive a 2 foot impact from a 32g spice bottle. I do not understand how there are videos showing the screen surviving hammers, waist and head high drops! I feel so deceived thinking this product was going to be better than the 4S that I upgraded from. (long story but the 4S survived 2 years without a scratch to the screen.. dropped numerous times) I checked the apple services and they want me to charge me 297 euros (we are in France) to mail-in a repair.

only had my iPhone 6 half a day. The phone slid from my lap on to the carpeted floor. The phone was encased in a silicon cover and had a screen protector attached. However point of impact was on the screen below the hone button. The screen shattered at this point. The worst thing was the protector and the phone housing were undamaged not even a scratch.

the term design flaw comes to mind. I wish I could attach an image to show all.

the phone only dropped 30cm at most

@rbrylawski - the product was not purchased through the applestore, therefore no applecare.

Just because you didn't purchase from an Apple Store doesn't mean you can't get AppleCare+. I purchased both my old iPhone 5 and my current iPhone 6 from an AT&T store, and then made an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar and allowed them to inspect my iPhone and purchased my AppleCare+ from them. As long as you purchase it within 30 days of purchasing your iPhone, and it inspects clear of any damage, you can purchase AppleCare+ from the Apple Store. I've done it for 4 different iPhones now.

That is really weird! I have had my iPhone 6 for two days now and I pulled it out of my pocket (with my phone being the only thing in my pocket) and noticed a crack in the top left corner. Unfortunately, I don't live near an apple store and I seriously doubt that my service provider would display the same level of customer service you received at the apple store. I find it very odd the cracks tend to be happening in the same locations; top left corner, etc. Hope apple brings the gorilla glass back in next years models.

I Have experienced the same problem which half the customer who bought iPhone 6 have already gone through. My phone's glass cracked in the very first fall from less than 2 feet height that too within 10 days of its purchase.

I Read some intellectual guys writing Apple doesn't employs ghosts to knock your phone out of your pocket or hand. Well I think Apple definitely doesn't need to employ ghosts as some of these intellectual are sufficient to rather completely destroys Apple's already deteriorating image.

Like any tobacco company, Apple should mention a WARNING in bold on the packaging of each iPhone 6 that it should never be used without a protective cover and should always be chained to your hand or pant so that it never falls on the floor. And if it does than Apple is not responsible for your inconvenience as we built a product which is meant to fetch us more revenue through high cost of repairs.

it should also mention on their paclagging that the actual cost of purchasing and maintaiming an iPhone over 3 years is $649 + $109 x 36 months as you are most likely to drop it once every month. People who have little kids at home should multiply this cost by a factor of 2 at least.

People who are considering to buy iPhone 6, please dont waste your time and money on this inferior quality product. Apple is no more the same company which it used to be under Steve Jobs. Now it is no more than any Chinese company which is trying just to chase its competitors in a bid to catch up with the pace of changing markets And consumer choices.

Just an update. Visited the local Genius Bar and paid £79.00 to have the screen replaced. There was no effort on Apple's behalf to even consider any other option.

Disappointing as i have been buying the iphone since 2009 and upgrade every year to the latest model and the Iphone 6 by far is the most fragile. ( In my opinion).

People who have little kids should keep expensive electronics out of their reach unless they are properly supervised. And people who don't understand that glass can break upon impact probably shouldn't own cell phones or drive cars.

Peoole with half knowledge or with out knowledge looks good when they are silent. Here is a two point response to level 8 user (whatever it means by these levels):

the first correction in the first sentence of your response is to replace the term "expensive electronics" by "Apple products", then every unfortunate customer of iPhone 6 will agree to it.

The second is more of a recommendation for you to research and read good stuff on unbreakable/superior quality/ hardened glass technologies. Rather it would be appropriate to start from understanding the purpose and material/manufacturing requirements of a glass used in mobile phones and windshield glass Of a car. It will help to clear your confusion.

So as a clever person you looked at the phone and even though you noticed the screen was glass and protruded from the edge of the metal case it was attached to decided to buy it anyway thinking what could possibly happen. As a clever person you didn't think maybe this phone needs a protective case on it should it get dropped on the floor. As a clever person you need warning labels attached to the box telling you glass can break. As a clever person you know the glass on the iPhone and other brands is Gorilla Glass so what should the screen be made of?

Well the point is now acknowledged by Mr Clever from another level... for your information I have been using mobile phones since the time it was first launched... Probably you were wearing nappies then.. I have been using iPhones since their launch and that too witbout any case or cover (what's the point of having a sleek phone if you cannot enjoy it)

your response can be summarized as terming Apple as just another brand (Contrary to their own philosophy to distinguish themselves as superior (not any more)).

This is my last response (FYI to all brainless level users who think of responding to this one) as I think my point is already conveyed and I am sure it will be helpful to many people (Existing or prospective customers) in taking an informed decision.

My daughter put the iphone 6 (with a TPU casing and screen protector) together with a portable battery charger (she always does that with her Samsung S3 and had no problem) in her pocket. She just set down and there was no impact or whatever. When she took out the iphone, the screen has cracked. Yes, it is possibly due to some impact but it is not like there was a hard knock or whatever. In fact, I have also put my other iphone 4 & 5 with portable charger in my pocket before and there were never any issue. I believe that the glass used by Apple this time round is definitely not sufficient to protect against even minor knocks due to the larger screens. For me, Apple should have taken that into consideration in their design. I am sure I will hear of more complaints about iphone 6 screen cracks in time to come. Just watch it. My advice to all iphone 6 users is that they purchase the iCare or if not, buy those casing which cover the screen as well, otherwise, suffer at your own peril. There is nothing much I can do now. The authorised Apple service centre wanted to charge me S$550 to repair when I paid only S$388 when i purchased the new phone with a plan. I decided not to repair it and count it as a bad experience with Apple, after many years telling people that Apple products (I had iphone 3GS, 4, 5, Mac) are very reliable and sturdy. It just leave a really bad taste this time.
