Once I got my 64GB 6 Plus on November 6th, I immediately restored it to iOS 8.1 and did not restore from backup. (I set it up as a new device). Took a long time to install my apps and settings, but it was worth it. I recently discovered and enabled Assistive Touch and encountered crashes while switching modes in the Camera app. Of course I googled this and came across this thread. After reading it through, I decided to perform a couple of tests. Here are my results below. Please perform the same test with your phone. If you encounter the same results, please escalate this to Apple support immediately. They need to know about this so that they can fix this bug and include it in the next update OR..... recall our defective phones/camera. Thanks all!
Side note: If you have time and happen to swing by your local Apple, Best Buy, Target stores, please attempt these tests. You should also note if the model you're testing is a 6 or 6 plus. I have a theory that this issue is software related and will exist in both models.
Update: These results were the same AFTER updating to iOS 8.1.1. That update did not fix this bug...
