Iphone 6 Plus 60fps causing camera app to freeze

I have an iPhone 6 Plus, IOS 8.0.2. When you go to settings>photos & camera>record video at 60 FPS toggled on. The camera app freezes up when you switch between camera modes like say from video to slow mo or sometimes video to photo, when you switch it a few times. Anyone else have this problem? I can repeat this every time. It was the same way on IOS 8.0.

UPDATE: My phone still experiences this problem. However, a hard reset usually mitigates it for several days. Then it will start again, and I'll have to reset again… I know there is a dubious article out of Korea saying there is a problem with the flash RAM for the 128 GB iPhone plus. Thought it was a bunch of bull, but perhaps there is some truth to it… This seems like an error that would be related to bad RAM.

Once I got my 64GB 6 Plus on November 6th, I immediately restored it to iOS 8.1 and did not restore from backup. (I set it up as a new device). Took a long time to install my apps and settings, but it was worth it. I recently discovered and enabled Assistive Touch and encountered crashes while switching modes in the Camera app. Of course I googled this and came across this thread. After reading it through, I decided to perform a couple of tests. Here are my results below. Please perform the same test with your phone. If you encounter the same results, please escalate this to Apple support immediately. They need to know about this so that they can fix this bug and include it in the next update OR..... recall our defective phones/camera. Thanks all!

Side note: If you have time and happen to swing by your local Apple, Best Buy, Target stores, please attempt these tests. You should also note if the model you're testing is a 6 or 6 plus. I have a theory that this issue is software related and will exist in both models.

Update: These results were the same AFTER updating to iOS 8.1.1. That update did not fix this bug...

Assistive Touch = AT

60fps = 60

Enabled 60, Disabled AT --> no freezes while switching modes in camera app (only tested a few times, need to test long term)

Disabled 60, Disabled AT --> no freezes while switching modes in camera app (only tested a few times, need to test long term)

Enabled 60, Enabled AT --> freezes regularly while switching modes in camera app (only tested a few times, need to test long term)

FINAL UPDATE: I ended up taking my phone into the Apple Store to get it examined. They ended up replacing it out-right. I wasn't able to duplicate the problem, but I showed them several video examples. They agreed that it seemed like a RAM problem. The reason they suspected this is because there were other, subtle problems as well. For example, in addition to the camera freezing in 60 FPS mode, I would have trouble swiping the control center up from the bottom of the screen - consistently. Also, other things would have trouble, too. Such as screen orientation change slowness, and webpages hanging. Once they replaced the phone, I haven't had any problems! In fact, my new 128 GB iPhone 6+ is behaving much better than the original - which behaved pretty well aside from those other issues. So, I would encourage all of you to visit your Apple Stores so that there is more documentation of this problem. Good luck!

BRand new iphone 6+ 128g, restore from back up.. Camera freezes with 60fps turned on. switching from video to photo.. went to genius bar they hard reset, ran diagnostic test, phone is perfect.. This time did not do restore from back up but manually and through icloud camer still freeze.. Went back to genius bar they replace brand new phone, 8.1.2 updated, set up as new phone still camera freezes... i believe if i switch to 30fps camera will stop freezing but what is the point in having 60fps and not able to use it????

I've heard enough people who had this problem, exchange it for a new phone, and experience the same issue once again. My hunch is that this is a bug that Apple needs to address which is why I didn't want to waste my time replacing my phone. I heard the 8.1.2 update didn't address the bug. Please call Apple support and report this so that they get the developers to work on this. Thanks all....

I was thinking of go and get a new one but when I fisrt bought it, this didn´t happen specially cuz I did record some on 60fps and then switched to take pictures, also I went into an Apple Store and caught the same problem on a display model.

So yes most certanly this problem has to be addressed software wise, not just by getting a new iPhone cuz just like you, might end up with a new phone that may carry the same error. Funny thing, not all iPhones present the problem, so do, some others don´t.
