Any iOS 8 Bluetooth mouse for iPad?

I held my iPad too much so my left arm, elbow and wrist were all sore. My physiotherapist told me to use another hand more. So, I recently added a Logical Bluetooth keyboard to iPad. It greatly enhances my productivity. But then, I find myself all the time raising my arm (instead of resting comfortably on the desk) to touch the iPad and my should to forearm starts sore and I need to visit a physiotherapy. So, I miss the mouse very much. I know iOS up to 7 don't have a mouse included in design.

What about iOS 8? Is there any bluetooth mouse that can be used on an iPad (like a Surface Pro 3)?

I'm considering to upgrade to the next iPad Air, or Surface Pro 3?

This video is from 2010!!!

4, count 'em, 4 years ago!

Where is this app in the App Store, now!

I couldn't find it.

Methinks Apple put the kibosh on this app.

I believe that the iPhone in the video maybe jailbroken and that is an unauthorized app that can be used on Jailbroken iDevices?

It's cool. No doubt about it ( I would NOT input text using a mouse or trackpad, BTW)!

I have a Bluetooth Logitech Trackpad that I would like to try this app with, but I couldn't find this app on the iOS App Store.

Something tells me that this is no longer available and hence STILL no Apple authorised way to use any WifI or Bluetooth mouse or trackpad on an iDevice.

How does this help the OP, BTW?

Please do not post links to things that you cannot confirm May or may not exist and and may or may not be still available for Apple's mobile devices.

Your link serves no one.

Sorry.

Hi BogdanC,

Thank you for sharing the link to me! You are very much welcome.

Seeing is believing? No. A video tells fact and fact is better than blind faith of believing.

The video proves that iOS has potential capability of giving a pointer on the iPhone/iPad displays. iOS technical capability has been there since 2011 but our need is just not listened by Apple. Jailbreaking solution is not what I'm after. A genuine (Apple) app for iOS devices connecting Bluetooth mouse and Bluetooth Magic TrackPad is the one missing from (or rejected by) Apple!

I definitely appreciate your link. It serves me. Thank you.

Please pass the link to www.Apple.com/Feedback for those who need a pointer on the iOS devices.

Going back to use a browser, and to use "just" a browser, or "just" another browser?

I can't imagine iPad users just run browsers on their iPads. I don't.

iOS was originally designed to run on iPod touch only.

===>>> Then the market demanded its integration to a smartphone. So there iPhone came. And then iPad.

iOS was originally designed to use fingers on touch screens.

===>>> Then there are better styluses like Adonit Jot touch and Jot Script, Pencil for Paper for iPad from 53.

If I'm still using just a browser app, I may still be using Safari on Mac, or even another O.S. on a non-Mac computer.

Without a pointer, I'm using my iPad much less now. That may be good to my left elbow, wrist and fingers (incl. thumb) and visiting my physiotherapist less.

MichelPM,

You are correct, the device in the video is jailbroken. The bt mouse works as well as you would expect a device to work that was designed for use with a mouse. It can be used with the iPhone or ipad. But neither the ipad or iPhone was designed for use with a mouse and the same can be said for applications made for the same. Having tried bt mouse I would not recommend it not only because your device would need to be jailbroken but it just does not fit the ipad experience well. The are other devices out there that offer desktop replacement experience in table form.

Jump Remote Desktop released their latest update on 25 Feb 2016, which supports the excellent Swiftpoint GT Bluetooth mouse for all remote sessions without jailbreak. I've been using their Beta for a month now, and together with my Bluetooth Keyboard, my Air 2 is now the most portable and useful computing device I could have ever wished for.

There can be no more complaints about no mouse support on iPad. (Hint: Swiftpoint may be offerring a substantial discount to Jump Remote Desktop users although I imagine they might struggle to manufacture fast enough to meet the demand for the millions of iPad users).

Uh...

This is one app ( and a remote VNC style app, at that) that works with only one specfic Bluetooth mouse.

How does this help the OP and the general iPad using community using their iPads in normal, everyday usage?

If this developer has just released a new version of their app that allows Bluetooth mouse support of any kind, they must be exploiting a programming loophole that Apple could plug at any time.

Apple plugged a feature that worked prior to iOS 9 that allowed purchased iTunes content to stream from an external storage device through the Safari web browser for iOS. This functionality was "fixed" (plugged) by Apple and no longer works.

Same thing could easily happen with this remote app no longer working with that specific BT mouse.

😉

Uhm. - actually the Citrix X1 mouse works on iOS with Citrix remote connections as well. (And the X1 Mouse and other Bluetooth 4.0 mice probably as well). The mouse support for Citrix X1 has been around for a while, I'd be very surprised if Apple just stop supporting the functionality.

The OS design doesn't really lend itself to mouse control, as is mentioned elsewhere in the thread.
