Ios8 slow charging ipad
Since I updated to iOS 8 my iPad will barely charge. It is extremely slow. Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

iPad, iOS 8
I Am having same issues with my iPad all since the update to iOS8
My first thought was my charger had went bad, after trying another to no avail I order a new 10v and cord.
when that didn't work, I turned to reading the forums. to date I've tried every suggestion and tip. I have reset hard
and soft and even purchased a new Apple 12v and cord that came today and still does not work!
I get nothing when plugged into charger and wall.
Only way I have been able to charge is connected to my PC while itunes is running. And anyone knows how long that
takes to charge 8+ hrs.
My iPad has become close to useless, at least basically for the work load it was performing.
The battery once charged discharges at an unacceptable rate even after darkening my screen and turning off all running apps.
This is rediculous! What is Apple doing to fix this? Like the others above I just want it fixed so I can go back to using it as intended.
Me too
exactly the same
canning chargers and cords (we have heaps of them) does nothing
its the software update
nothing else has changed
we have 4 iPads and only the one that has been updated is affected
Exactly the same issues. I use the 2.1 amp charger and the iPad charging cable that came with the iPad. this last charge: plugged it in, shut it off, left it charging three hours and it charged from 31% to 50%. It's at least 2x longer to charge since the last iOS update. Since getting screwed (in retrospect) by Apple when they updated the OS on my 4s... I decided to run a comparison on my 5S devices. One for work and one for home. I updated from iOS 7 through to the latest ios8 updates on the home phone and its so slow and jittery and inconsistent that it's tough to use. The work phone, running ios7 works as smoothly and quickly as the day I got it, running the same apps. I'm probably not going to update the OS anymore wrt apple products. same for the Mac... Another story...
i'm using same OS on my Mini 3 and my 5s phone. Phone charges in record time....mini takes 3 or 4 times as long???
thanks for your feedback!
Yes...that's why I found this thread...my phone won't charge barely at ALL and my iPad is impossibly slow to charge after the update...I've tried at least 7 different charges: car, ipod dock, car, wall, non-apple.....the phone got very warm to the touch when plugged in yesterday, and today I can't get past 6% chg.
i Am having these problems too since ios8 ipad update (to the day) slow charging, not holding its charge (to the point it takes longer to charge than the operating time when not charging)
Google search bar on safari accepts first letter then stops and have to re-type to finish sentence...
Space bar on safari dissapears randomly.
Over all much slower processing and apps are struggling to boot, ipad was completely fine two mins before update and now is a slug with glitches and i blame the update.
ITs not the charger as i have been using the same one for years.. And re-booting is not helping.
APple support plaese help!!
I am having the same problem. I put the iPad on charge at 12:30 and it is now 4:30 and it is stilton fully charged when it used to be fully charged in 2 hours.
I have iPhone 3,4, and 5, apple TV, ipad 2, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and some other Apple products at home. I was thinking of buying the a new iPhone and iPad Air. But with the iPad charging issue after 7 and especially after 8.x, there is absolutely no ******* way I am going to pay a single dime to Apple ever again. I have a lot of paid apps in my iPad and I am willing to ditch them all just so I will not buy an apple cable and pay an insane amount of money for a ******* 2 dollar cable.
Apple, you lost a good customer and there is absolutely no ******* way you will get me back again. Go and stuff your precious cable to your *** and enjoy
Same here.. Using the same charger that I got for my iPhone.. It charges my iPhone, but not my iPad.. COME ON APPLE. I spend a LOT of money on Apple Stuff, You all are starting to let me down.
Here is another solution I found:
With iOS 7, now you can no longer use any duplicate cable for charging your iPad. Whenever you try, the system will show an error saying the cable is not supported. Therefore, if you are already using something like that and facing charging problem, then stop using that cable and buy an original one which should be able to fix this. After all it worths the extra money you are paying. Lately, Apple has launched a new adapter which is 12W adapter for your iPad. This adapter is basically designed to charge faster or at an optimum speed that you should be looking for. So, grab one of these if you don’t have it already. If you always use USB charging rather using wall chargers, then you might face charging problem more often than you would have using the wall chargers. Generally, the amount of juice that is required to charge up the battery is passed at a lower speed through USB charging, whereas wall charging is much faster in that sense. So, even if you must use USB, make sure no other USB ports are busy while you are charging your iPad. Charging Brick Cable If you have an iPhone, you might be using the iPhone charging cable. With the iPhone 6 charging brick cable, it will charge a lot slower. So use back the charging cable that came with the iPad. Also most of the cable from eBay or Amazon are cheaply made from china, which can cause slow charging problem. So pick the best reviewed one, if you don’t want to pay the extra premium for a genuine Apple cable. Turning Wi-Fi Off/On If you keep your device ON while you charge, then make sure you do not download/upload or do any heavy tasks that run in the background. This is one of the reasons why you face the slow charging and it can be fixed just by simply avoid doing it. In addition, you can always put your iPad on airplane mood which turns of your network connectivity specifically Wi-Fi, which of course will charge your device much faster than keeping it on a normal mood. Reseting iPad Air 2 Make a backup on your iPad Air on iTunes and proceed to do a system reset. This will delete all the datas, setting and caches from the iPad. With this you’ll be getting factory default setting(just like a new iPad). Goto General -> Reset ->Erase All Content and Settings(Make backup first) Updating to latest iOS 9.2 Updating iOS will sometimes improve the speed of the iPhone 6/iPad Air and charging speed. With update the iPad will fix minor bugs and enable better features. Goto General -> Sofware Update(to see if any downloads is available) Lastly, it is advisable that you keep your device switched off when you are charging it. Moreover, check with the voltage if it is ideal for charging your iPad or not. Consult or seek the help of an electrician if you don’t know how to test it.
