MacPro monitor setup with LG 34" problem.

I bought a Macpro and decided to use a 34" LG monitor which is ultra wide and has a thunderbolt port. I couldn't get the monitor to work depite connecting via the thunderbolts. I tried connecting via the HDMI ports too but the screen doesn't boot. I can change settings of the monitor and it looks like it's ok. the LG monitor was advertised as MacPro ready so I bought it rather than the very expensive 4K monitors. I'd appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks.

I did a repair install of OS X 10.11.3 (15D21) and everything seems to be working again. Not sure what the problem was but if it returns I will be sure to open a ticket with Apple. If you get details from the Apple tech please post them. This seems to be an issue with many others as well. Thanks!
