iPad 2 keeps crashing rebooting after ios 8 update

Since updating my iPad 2 to ios 8 I have had numerous problems with it, first thing that happened was the accesscibility features came on and would'nt turn off, had to attach to my mac and disable them in itunes, also while this was occuring the ipad 2 kept randomly rebooting, this is still occuring, I have so far done a soft reset and a hard reset, I've done a restore, I've updated to ios 8.2 and still the same things happening, this is starting to get very annoying.

iPad 2 was working fine until this update . . please can anyone assist . . .

I luckily have now received a response and have had an email and a telephone conversation with an Apple Executive Relations Representative (nice title if anything), and they are now setting up a call with a Senior Technical Specialist, so here's hoping . . this only occurred after numerous emails had been sent out to various levels of Staff and Management at Apple, eventually some does answer by the looks of it.

Within days of the 8.0 debacle, I scoured the internet for a method to revert....and there was one. It used iTunes, and a very specific step-by-step procedure, a data download that was serial number specific, and some little trick of holding down multiple keys while it did a reset. But, that procedure is no longer. Apple erased it when they "signed off" (whatever that means) of version 7. There is no possible way to go back now. Sorry.

I agree with everyone in this post. It is definitely an ios 8 issue. My husband has an Ipad 2, i have an Ipad Mini and we both have Iphone 5's. Same problem on all 4 devices since the upgrade to ios 8. Coincidence? I think not. Same problems - Will not shut down. When restarting, we get the startup spinning circle, then the screen goes black for about 30 seconds. Then it continuously reboots about 3-4 times. Then freezes for a couple of seconds. Then I can finally log in with my password, at which point it freezes for another 2-3 seconds. The problem is not as bad on the phones - a little freezing up, but not the horrible reboots. I think Apple knows very well about this and is working on a solution - hopefully.

ok that's interesting. are you using similar apps on those devices?

its not hardware.

I've got it down to erroneous apps that have not been tested thoroughly with IOS 8.0 which are triggering code crashes especially over Wi-Fi.

Apple have messed with something that is tripping these apps up. They did the same with OS Mavericks and killed lots of audio software in the process.

When I switch off Wi-Fi I get more stability.

Whenever one of your devices goes down, afterwards look into the system settings for "diagnostics and usage"

and it will say what app crashed at that point.

Well I've now had my call with Senior Technical Support, we had a screen sharing session where I was asked to do a Sync of the iPad 2 and then located the log files zip and send to them, next I was asked to do a button combination to create some stack files and these are being sent to another dept to look at and then they'll get back to me.

They mentioned a number of things during the conversation regarding small dent/dings I informed them my ipad 2 had, saying that with a install of a new iOS this could cause issues if the dents/dings had caused anything to work loss (hardware etc), thing is the dent's/dings in question happened when iOS 6 was running on the device and I've installed iOS 7 since then and had no issues with that install or operation of the iOS.

Also posted a video of just a few minutes of trying to use my iPad 2 with iOS 8 installed to them

Here you go for your watching pleasure this is my iPad 2 64Gig WiFi Cellular White, with only one 3rd Party App installed, WiFi & Cellular disabled and all back App Refresh's turned off.

As you can see its unusable and this is at its most stable

So now just got to wait and see what happens next . . .

I really hate to say this again, but y'all are seriously wasting your time looking at fixes for this issue. The iPad 2, of which I am an owner, simply does not have the horsepower to run iOS 8. The EXACT same thing happened to me when I upgraded mu iPhone 3G to iOS 4 -- the upgrade bricked my phone.

The iPad 2 was at the very bottom of the compatibility list for iOS 8. However, there are more iPad 2s in use in the Apple ecosystem than any other iPad. So, Apple took a chance and released it knowing people would scream that they couldn't get all the goodies of iOS 8 on their iPad 2 if it wasn't included on the compatibility list. The VERY simple solution for this is for Apple to re-sign iOS 7.1.2 and allow users to restore to that OS and quit lying about hardware issues, dents, dings or the price of tea in China.

Like I said, I learned my lesson and didn't update to iOS 8 until I could confirm, via other users, that it would not turn my iPad 2 into an expensive doorstop or paperweight.

I have emailed Apple several times and begged them to re-sign and certify iOS 7.1.2. I think if enough iPad 2 users did this, it may have a positive impact.

Totally agree !.. This is NOT a hardware problem.. The LOG may have showed that, but you can't have this many people affected and say that it is a hardware problem!.. I had my iPad4 for nearly two years and NEVER had to re-start it for any reason. Then came 8.0 ! Now I went the route of on-line support, telephone support and two trips to the Apple store, and after two frustrating months, decided to bit the bullet and purchase an iPad AIR.. AT LEAST, they gave me a good trade in value for the BAD ipad. Now I have the newest technology and it works great accept for an occasional wi-fi issue, but nothing like it was.. Believe me, if I see on this forum that they have patched this problem and caused me to spend $250, I will not be a happy camper and may seek some kind of restituion.

Good luck to all of you.
