JPG files not opening on MAC

After that, I transferred them to mac and when I view the same files in mac the pictures apear to be in .jpg.xml format (How is that possible?).

That is something you did in transferring the photos - it does not involve the Mac - exactly how did you transfer the photos form your PC?

Can you still open them on the PC? Try deleting the .xml part of the extension.

It may be the way your removable drive is configured - as widows only?

I have given pictures in both jpeg and pdf - burned on CD and DVD -- the windows pc had no problem reading them.

Haven't done one in a bit but recollect you have to allow it in a format that windows and mac can read.

What application opens the file on Windows?

If you right click (on the Mac) and "get info", what type of file does it say it is?

And how did you get the photos onto the HD?

Rightclick (ctl+click) on the picture.jpg.xml file in the mac, then choose getinfo, in the name field remove the .xml so that it becomes picture.jpg

Now you can open it by clicking on it.

batch change the names by removing the .xml.

What format has the external HD?

do you have the same issue when you do the copy/paste fromPC->external->mac when you use a USB stick instead of the HD?

Did the same just now: copy in PC, to an external, to mac: it just stays the same jpg, without any addition to the name.

Did you use Windows Explorer to copy the jpg files, or did you copy in a browser?
