iPhone 6 no service 8.0.2 Vodafone UK

Hi

My iPhone keeps going in to no service mode randomly, if I do a aeroplane mode on and off, it usually clears it but it is getting very frustrating

Do you think this is an issue which will be sorted with an update or do I have a faulty handset?

Thanks

Tom

I posted this on a similar thread relating to issues with iPhone 5's but it seems more relevant here and this is more up to date...

I have looked into this problem in some detail and have had several iPhone's replaced (including iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 plus up to and including 8.1.2) in a bid to isolate whether this was hardware or software, but they all exhibited the same behaviour of...

1. Unable to get a signal after a moderate period of service loss (e.g after travelling on the underground or subway.)

2. Unresolved by simply toggling Airplane mode.

3. Resolved by rebooting the phone.

The problem is occurring most likely due to a software bug and here is the evidence...

During the time that the phone is in this state of displaying "No Service" when you know there to be service available, the following OS processes have died...

(Root)

- name: com.apple.Mobile

- name: oscard

- name: AppleIDAuthAgent

- name: keybagd

(Mobile)

- name: misagent

- name: CFNetworkAgent

- name: ind

- name: MobileMail

- name: com.apple.uifoun

- name: vsassetd

- name: containermanager

- name: fmfd

- name: mapspushd

- name: homed

- name: mobactivationd

- name: lockbot

- name: BlueTool

- name: softwarebehavior

- name: askpermissiond

- name: touchsetupd

- name: installd

- name: softwareupdated

- name: familynotificati

- name: atc

- name: healthd

- name: fileproviderd

Something is causing the above processes to die and once dead the phone will never recover the signal those processes are started as part of the boot sequence.

I hope Apple see this post and gives them some pointers as to how to solve it.

For those interested in how I was able to get this list, I simply downloaded a readily available and well known App from the App Store which amongst other things provides a process list which you can copy and paste or email to yourself.

I then compared a stock list of processes with no apps running in the background with a list of processes during the problem state.

I am based in Jordan (not the UK) and suddenly started having the same issue a couple of days ago, a few weeks after purchasing my iPhone 6. The 'No Service' episodes occurred 2-3 times an hour and lasted up to one minute each time, unless I switched Airplane Mode off and on.

After going through this thread and others, I changed the Voice & Data setting (under Settings->Cellular) from LTE, which is still nonexistent on my network (Zain JO), to 3G. This seems to have fixed the problem for me.

Iphone 6/4G/Vodafone UK/IOS 8.1.3

It seems that a couple of the places I visit every week for work have a patchy signal In the building. I think the iPhone seems to lose signal, go to "no service", and then won't reconnect, even if I walk through a good signal area for 30 minutes to several hours, unless I restart the phone it will not get a phone signal again.

My fiances iPhone 3GS used to do the same thing years ago too.

Hi,

it has happened to me, too, today. Only rebooting helped. I didn't take picture of it as I've only found someone's comment about it after I rebooted it (must remember to do that for next - fingers crossed for no next time). I only have had my iphone6 for about 3 weeks (bought from Apple), still using my old SIM from iPhone5. Does anyone still getting that problem - keep loosing the vodafone 'service'...?

At this point I think I'll stick to the "next time" but any further info would be very much appreciated by me.

Thanks

Hi,

I have a prepaid sim card on Vodafone Ro. In December I changed for a 4G sim. In January it was an update of IOS (8.1.3 I think, I am not really sure) and after that my phone was start loosing signal several times per day (sometime more than 10 times). This was happen in Romania. Meanwhile, I came back in Norway (here I work) and I use this phone number in roaming. Before the last update I haven't noticed other lost on signal. But, right after update on IOS 8.3, after restarting of the phone, was "No service" all the time on my phone. I have another Iphone with Norwegian number and I switched the sim cards and still no service on Romanian sim card. My phone was setup on automatic carrier. I switched for manual and I choose the network that I am using all the time here in roaming and for 5-6 seconds it was service, but after that, again no service. Last weekend I was traveling in Sweden and there it was everything ok, I had signal. Again in Norway, again no service. But today I was reading this discussion and I tried some settings and I have signal again.

So, what I have done:

1. Settings-- cellular -- Voice and data --- choose 3G

2. Settings -- Carrier -- choose manual your carrier and select it

After that, I had signal, I switched for automatic network selection, it was still signal, then I restart the phone (home+on/off/lock screen button) and still signal.

In conclusion, it is a mismatch between sim card 4G, network and IOS.

I double checked this, so I choose again 4G on Settings -- cellular-- Voice and data, again No service.

OBS: No service issue was even with data roaming closed and even with cellular data closed.

I hope my post will help some of you. I know that you can not use 4G but hopefully the network providers and apple will work on this

I think I've fixed this for me. I had the same problem on Vodafone UK. iPhone 6 with latest firmware would show no service and toggling airplane mode did not help. Only a full reboot would fix it however at the moment the following seems to have worked.

Settings > mobile > mobole data network > under LTE settings enter the following.

APN Internet

username WAP

password WAP

this instantly fixed the no service bug and it has not happened since. Even though this setting is optional I think there's a bug in the firmware that looks for this if it toggles quickly between 3G and 4G.

I'd be grateful if others could try this and report back. If you're with another network you will need to find your 4G settings.

Apple UK and Vodafone UK are clearly not interested in resolving our issues!

Since receiving my iPhone 6 at the beginning of, April 2015 I also have been having the same intermittent signal issues.

Again they are only resolved with a reboot nothing else seems to work.

Escalated to Vodafone and have had my handset replaced twice.

Latest iOS installed as well but none of this makes any difference!

I will try the LTE settings provided by 'Big Al zz' and let you all now how I get on.

BTW; I have previously asked Vodafone about these specific settings (LTE) but no answer has been forthcoming.

This is is what I have come to expect from a company which now has the worst customer service team IN THE WORLD!
