iPhone 6 no service 8.0.2 Vodafone UK

Hi

My iPhone keeps going in to no service mode randomly, if I do a aeroplane mode on and off, it usually clears it but it is getting very frustrating

Do you think this is an issue which will be sorted with an update or do I have a faulty handset?

Thanks

Tom

Thanks Peter, I am seriously considering moving to Three too.

Just had my call from Apple who could run the diagnostic tests over the phone which was handy as I'm working far too many hours!

It LOOKS like the issue is the third party keyboard I'd installed (TouchPal) they could see it clashing with the system so I've deleted that for 24 hours and they're going to call me back tomorrow, if it doesn't happen in that time then it might be the cause so 4G is turned back on and I wait...

Nah, it wasn't the third party keyboard as it happened again after I've deleted it.

Apple called me again and transferred me to a senior technical person but after 15 minutes with really awful hold music I gave up.

Will do a few more tests and see if I can fit in a trip to the Apple store at the weekend. The problem with the issue being so intermittent is that I could go in they could run tests and find what they *think* is the issue, and then have to come away and test something for another 24 hours, and then go back. Oh well.

Mine is intermittent and so I just took screenshots with the calendar visible whenever it went to no service, I soon had a folder full and my phone was replaced without question.

I am on the second phone now and still having the issues, I have wiped my phone clean again which has been an absolute nightmare and I am gradually putting data back on to see if anything is affecting it.

Spoke to Apple and they have said if it starts doing the no service again then they will give me another handset as they still believe it is a hardware issue.

Have read this with interest as had this exact problem. Phone would randomly lose service and putting into and out of Airplane mode would not restore it, only switching off and on. Apple, deleted all my data, restored the software and eventually replaced the handset, the carrier (Vodafone) also replaced the sim. The problem occurred about every 2 days, but was as quick as 5 minutes and as long as 7 days. Since I am now convinced it is unlikely to be the hardware I watched the phone one day and where I was had an intermittent 4G signal, i.e. the phone would switch between 4G and 3G every so often, while I was using the phone it dropped the data connection and then a minute or so later went to No Service again. Having now switched off 4G I haven't had the problem for 4 days now and counting... A bit of a pain but at least the phone keeps working. Vodafone have checked my 4G settings and seems ok so can only assume that it is a problem with the iPhone software on the 6 as my daughters do not experience the problem on their iPhone 5S's. So awaiting Apple to fix it and hoping that if they waste their money replacing phones unnecessarily they will have an incentive to do so! Interestingly when I swapped it in an Apple store they told me it was telling them not to swap the handset but they did as AppleCare telephone support had already recorded that they would.

How is everyone getting on with the no service? I still keep getting it randomly, can be full 3G and then next minute no service

Spoke to my network provider who say they can't do anything and it is just down to Apple. They also said they are receiving no end of people calling with iPhones and connectivity issues.

I have turned 4G off as mentioned above, no improvement

Updates please guys

I've heard from friends on the inside that O2 and Vodafone were about to rebuild their networks and share the UK as one physical network (I don't know if this is still true). If so, there could be positives and negatives to both O2 and Vodafone in the near future. A new physical access network will have teething troubles. If they alter their existing 2G networks then even voice calls could get tricky to make in congested areas if they've decided to "fully realise the synergies of cost savings" possible by amalgamating their networks together. I gather Vodafone will manage one side of the UK and O2 would manage the other.

Could be worth a "wait and see" on these two for now.

edit: sounds like they're actually extending their networks in a joint fashion to help coverage - 17,500 extra Base stations.

vodafone state it doesn't alter their existing spectrum, etc so I guess this would be a 3G / 4G coverage exercise. Could be that Vodafone or O2 are a good bet!

After 11 days of having 4G switched back on all the time, have only had one minor glitch where the phone lost data only and this was restored by switching in and out of Airplane mode so different to usual problem. I know there were Vodafone issues around my house, one of the locations I had the problem, so maybe there were at work. I recon this is some sort of problem with the network that the phone can't handle. So both carrier and Apple need to do anything as I believe the carrier shouldn't be able to throw anything at the phone that causes it to lose signal until switched off and on.

I am still experiencing the random no service episodes. My wife has just got her iPhone 6 and she is experiencing the same on Vodafone. Both our iPhone 5's were working perfectly with the same o/s

I did a little test by putting an iphone 5 and iphone 6 in field test mode, same room and same network, the iphone 5 had stronger signal strength than both iPhone 6's

Friends with iPhone 6's on other networks don't seem to be having issues?

The annoying thing is.. Apple and Vodafone just keep offering new handsets, we have had 3 handsets now all with same issue!
