Before you tell me to do some "fix"....

YES I am connected to WiFi

YES my internet works perfectly on every other device in my house

YES I have rebooted my router

YES I have tried closing every single app

YES I have rebooted my iPad 2

YES I have turned off my iPad 2 and turned it back on a day later

YES I have upgraded to iOS 8.0.2

YES I have tried a factory restore

YES the problem started immediately after iOS 8 upgrade

*** is wrong with letting me downgrade to 7.1.2. Seriously. iOS 8 is a steaming pile of crap for iPad 2 users. And Apple support blames it on hardware issues of course. So, did thousands of iPad 2 users all just had the same hardware failure at the same time? Just look at the forums and see how many are having the same exact problem. And, if it is just a "select few", then why did all of these posts start AFTER iOS 8?

Even if you try to blame it on hardware, that still has nothing to do with going back to iOS 7.1.2. Every problem started with iOS 8. I had zero problems before iOS 8.

Bottom-line....LET ME GO BACK TO 7.1.2!

Hey Tony, and everyone here, i just read that there is an update available, I have not tried it yet, but thought you'd want to know. I read this on the 9 to 5 Mac website:

http://9to5mac.com/2014/11/17/apple-releases-ios-8-1-1-w-bug-fixes-performance-i mprovements-for-ipad-2-iphone-4s/

"According to Apple, iOS 8.1.1 will improve performance for older, A5-powered devices running iOS 8, namely the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s; Apple’s current selling iPod touch first released in 2012 is also powered by Apple’s A5 chip. The update appears to be without issue...."

If it helps...i just downloaded the new software update 8.1.1 which addresses the issues of iPad2. -'though i posted a scathing review of iOS 8, I must tell you my experience with the new update has been quite different. We own two iPad 2's same 64 gb and one with iOS 7 . Mine with the new update is working smoothly. I hope this helps

some folks will be never happy with themselves, how can they be happy with what the other!

yesterday night Apple gave life to my iPad2, i used it intensivelly and works in a accetable speed.

LESSONS LEARN, no matter what, this iPad2, i will never update it again, i am quiet sure is his end of life firmware update.

also, iOS 8.1.1 solved the battery issues with my 5s

also, OS X 10.10.1 solve my issues with Wi-Fi

the big difference from the JOBs time, is that he would release this operating systems only now, mostly he did not released buggy versions, mostly the upgrade versions were not to solve bug issues. but unfortunatly he is gone and he was 1 in a cantury, we will need 100 more years to get the new genius, and that is a fact we have to live with. ✅

Had same problems and lost Verizon connection also, so now I can only use WiFi, also has slowed down and freezes up, keyboard covers message. I Took it in to Apple store in Pleasanton Ca. they reloaded software, said it's broken, you'll need to buy a new one if you want one that works. I said it worked fine before I uploaded the new software but now it's messed up, store manager was like a robot just kept repeating it's out of warranty, you'll have to buy a new one.

I held off updating my iPad 2 for as long as I could knowing there would be issues, but seeing the red dot on the settings icon everyday was frustrating so I finally updated to IOS8 through itunes because I didn't have enough space on my iPad to do it. Well that was the worst thing I could've done it was like uploading a nasty virus to my pad, now everything sticks, closing pages stick, closing apps stick and stutter, when I type I have to wait for the text to catch up before I can carry on. Tapping on the back and forward button in Safari is massively frustrating because they don't respond all the time and when they do decide to respond, depending on how many times you tapped them, will have it jumping all the way back to last weeks visited pages.
