My Epson XP-710 Series, printer/scanner: I can see the drivers but not the software - where is it?

Just bought the above. When I read the instructions, it tells me to go to Applications, and click on the software. All I have in Applications is the driver. I cannot see what Epson says I should have, ie, colourful screens to use. I downloaded the drivers from Apple, as Epson was !!!!! Any ideas anyone? Trying to scan an application form to see if I can fill-in as opposed to using my pen. I can't even find out if I can do this. Help.

Hi again

I got to the UK site of Epson. I have downloaded lots. But I can only find EPSON Scan (v4.001) 29-Oct-2013 17.53 MBs. I can't see Epson Scan Utility (version 4.0.0.0.1EN). And, on the UK site I can only see EpsonPrinter.pkg. I can't now even see v218.dmg; must have trashed it somehow. Are epsonprinter.pkg and v218.dmg different versions of the same thing? I can no doubt find v2.18 again, but I can't see it on the epson site. I may be solving all this, but not quite yet. Please get back to me.

I have already downloaded epson377574eu.dmg and when I double click on it I am taken to an icon, ie, EPSON Scan.pkg, and when I click on it I am taken to 'Welcome to the EPSON Scan Installer' not to your Epson Scan Utility 4.0.0.0.1EN. I can scan okay.

I have downloaded all the files (correct terminology?) from Epson.co.uk (not USA):

I cannot see either Epson Scan Utility 4.0.0.0.1EN, or, EpsonNet Setup_WW__371_31.dmg in the official Epson site above. What am I doing wrong do you think?

There appears to be an Artisan 710 in the US, but my UK one is called Expression Premium XP-710. Are the two the same or are we getting them mixed up do you think. I'm all out of ideas, but would like to hear what you think. I am quite a dummy on computers.

Night for now. Helen

Helen, I too am in the UK and what I have said is based on what I did when I installed my Epson XP-710 about a months ago.

When you go to the URL I provided, make sure that you have selectd the right operating system (Mac) in the liitle box at the top right hand corner of the second page. In this page, three steps are described. Step 2 includes "Choose a Connection Method" - select "WIFI or Ethernet" and then click on "Download". This should download the file EpsonNet Setup_WW_371_31.dmg. Double click on this. Quite honestly, I can't remember what it does and it may simply repeat something you have already done, but it may also be a key stage in the setup process. Then, in Step 3', click on the "Epson.com" icon at the bottom left of the page and follow the steps to get to the UK site where there will be a page of small pictures, with one of these called "Support". Open this and where it says "Enter in your model"', do NOT do this but click in the "Click Here" link and subsequently enter in your product details (All-in-one, XP-710, Mac Intel). You should then find a page listing all the available downloads. You have already obtained epson37757EU.dmg and this lead you to the Epson Scan Installer. Were you able to double click on this?

You say that you can scan - are you using the utility that looks like Image Capture and what sort of results do you get?

I wish I could tell you how 'I' have fixed this ongoing problem, but I can't. I gave up and went back to PC World with both the printer and my mbp. Both were taken behind the counter where I could not see what was going on. The shop assistant told me that he attached the usb from the printer to the mbp; and on opening the lid on the mbp, the opening screen began by asking him a question regarding downloading all the bits and bobs the printer needed. He agreed and it all occurred by magic. I told him of all the problems I have been having and he could not tell me why he found it so easy. I wish I had seen all that he saw. It did take about 60 mins though; I walked around the shop and even went shopping while I waited. I find this all a bit strange; I even asked if I had inserted the usb into the correct ports, but the printer and the computer only have one each anyway (the first port on the computer has the receiver for the mouse constantly in place). He did connect via airport, so maybe this is why it all happened automatically. But then again at the start I used airport and only changed it on reading in these communities that airport prevents draft printing. I like using draft when needed but am now dubious about changing anything. I cannot find any downloaded Epson drivers or software, like I did before; but I think apple do this without this need (or something like that). Anyway, he used apple not epson. Epson seems to have more software, e.g., for photos and printing onto CDs etc, but none of this in now on my pc. I suppose I can download it separately, but surely Apple should provide this? Not too sure, only know I now don't have these options. I can live with just print and scan, but would like the draft/greyscale option. I think I just need to go into print/scan via preferences and replace AirPrint with the epson option. Thank you for all your advice. Enjoyed our chats.
