Last night my wife had her phone plugged in the car, went to a meeting and dropped it in a toilet. Put it in rice and the thing works. Shut it down however and then I was going to try to do a computer backup to get every picture off of it, as icloud seems to loose them. We have Apple Care and will get the phone replaced this weekend at the Apple Store.

Here is the issue. Since the accident, it will not accept a plug. The plug goes a little over half way. I measured the depth with a tooth pick and the depth of the canal is less than mine now. Did the water cause something to make the phone unable to plus in?

Tried canned air, tried a tooth pick. I am an optometrist and place it under a microscope and the is no foreign body in there just a shorter canal.

HELP!

Just wanted to write that I was also about to send the iPhone 6 in for repair (I live 6hrs from an Apple Store) and that this post saved me countless hours of down time. I had an issue where the lint had compacted in the bottom of the lightening cable port and I thought that there was some sort of other blockage in there because gently using a toothpick to clear away debris did not affect a fix. After reading on another post that serious digging was required to clear the blockage I went ahead and used a paperclip. To clear the blocked port required some hard digging and at one point I felt that I would ruin the iPhone. In the end the result was good and I could again plug the connector in. Long and short the digging required to clear the port of debris was way over what I would have expected. Probably those of you who live near an Apple store would be better served by taking the iPhone there than risking damaging the device. However if an Apple store is not a viable option and you absolutely need to fix your iPhone then I would suggest doing what I did.

I had a problem where the charging was intermittent. I had to play with the cable and hold it in a certain position to get it to charge. I read some of the posts about this issue and found out that I had lint in my cable slot of my iPhone 6 Plus. I cleaned it out with a toothpick. Everything works fine now. Initially I thought it was a cable or hardware problem and I was cursing Apple. My bad! it was only the lint in my pocket.
