Folks

This I doubt has nothing to do with jailbreaking and all to do with a bug.

I have an iPhone 5C, 7.0.6 that does the exact same thing. ( It is NOT jailbroken. ) I have reset multiple times. I have logged in and ensured my iTunes account is correct multiple times. UPDATE ALL is greyed out. This device may or may not update an app if you manually go into Purchased, Click on the App and hit update there. This only worked a few times. Incompatibility with this iOS should not be an issue as all Apps that refuse to update are compatible with version 6 and newer. There is over 2.5 GB of space available and all settings approve updates, there are no restrictions.

I appreciate anyone looking at this thread to concentrate on helping with the issue and putting jailbreaking aside.

I've got a jailbroken phone and a non-jailbroken ipad.

Both are on ios 7.04.

Both had the issue with the Update bug. The date ahead by 2 weeks has sorted it, updating apps also by clicking on the app name and then pressing Update seemed to work for 'some' of the apps.

But everyone - Please please please open a case with Apple support. The more people who bug them about this we might get a proper answer and none of the 'have you tried updating to the latest ios ?' or 'try clicking this patronising help link about itunes and updates'

Spend a lot of money every month and now this, frustrating as anything.

But people, PLEASE open a case with Apple as it'll help. Sadly us all moaning here might not get us anywhere, speak to Apple support by email or phone and things might start happening.

Specially after the call then they ask you 'are you happy with the answer i provided?' then you say no and it'll be logged to the next level.

I'm still having some issues...but try this...go into settings scroll to iTunes and App Store. Then scroll to Updates and turn on (to green) Updates .that automatically updates...see what happens. I had 13 apps to update all but Flixster and yahoo weather are still in the Update list,,,that said both of those apps work. See how she goes and let me know. I use these devices everyday this just started today.

"Jailbreaking can cause problems.

Also, have you verified that the updates are not iOS 8 only?

When iOS 7 was introduced last year Apple had a coding problem when iOS 7 app updates were listed for on iOS 6 devices but, as expected, the updates would not install."

Thanks for the answer. I've got two devices, one jailbroken and one not and its the same for both.

But yes that you said about iOS7 and the issues last year with the coding problem, sounds like the same thing here. If Apple just admitted that or that there was an issue and to bear with them i would be fine with that and stop ranting all night long about it 😉

But its the fact they're saying rubbish about updating to ios8 or 'try this on itunes' or 'are you sure you've got the latest update' etc. Just frustrating. We all know what the issue is, how come none of the 'highly trained' staff on the phone/email dont ?

Call Apple and tell them that your jailbroken iPad is not functioning properly.

😕 Cary Davis doesn't have an iPad, he has an iPhone that is NOT JB. When is Apple going to do the right thing and start responding to it's loyal customers? WE ALL NEED THIS FIXED, we shouldn't be the one's spending hours trying find a workaround, because it's common to all reports here and nothing we did broke it.

Let me get this straight. You're alleging that loyal customers are those that have jailbroken devices? Amazing!

Oct 13, 2014 7:26 PM in response to Philly_Phan

Nothing of the kind, every one has PAID big money for their Apple devices (unless they are stolen!), Yes I'm a loyal customer for a long time, since I purchased my first Apple 2e, followed by..... Macintosh 5400 Performa, Titanium Powerbook G4, Desktop Mac G5, Apple iPod, MacPro 3.1, MacBook Pro, iTouch, iPad Air. Along with countless Apple software. As it's very clear it's zilch to do with JB, I condsider it my right along with all posters here, for honest answers. Maybe you can explain how I broke the updates? and why no one is entitled to a fix?

Hi All,

I tried this and it worked:

1. From App Store, tap on the name/icon of app rather than tapping on update.

2. App details page will open

3. Tap update on tap right corner and it updates normally as it suppose to.

P.S: All credits goes to my wife as she did this workaround and informed me.

No matter if iPhone is JB or not and irrespective of models it works fine.

Yes that works. It still says theres an update for the app but the red 1 has disappeared from the app store.

But it proves that this isnt some update for ios8 as the advisor told me on the phone. He said that these updates were ios8 only, thats not true as doing the above updates the app.

So in the 5 years i've been an Apple customer i've updated apps no problem. Here we have to do this stupid workaround as NO ONE from Apple is admitting theres an issue.

I've opened up yet another case as the previous 2 the 'advisors' simply said 'update to ios8' when i told them in the message that i wont due to ios8 running badly on an Iphone 4s and the fact many of my apps wont work.

I advise anyone here with this issue to open up a case or even call. I've had one phone call with them , granted it was useless but at least via the survey afterwards i can complain more.

I cant believe Apple are ignoring this

Thanks for the suggestions, in appstore (on iPad Air iOS 7.04), selecting app name/icon needing an update, didn't open the details, however I found this seems to work for me:

1. In Appstore, tap on 'Purchased' (bottom of page) instead of 'Updates', search the App. it shows up with 'Open' next to it.

2. Click that and the downloads starts! (yeah crazy huh).

3. After download completes, it still shows 'Update' and remains in 'Updates' list.

4. Clear the completed updates, by following zoomerjr's suggestion:

Turn off "set time automatically" and move the date 2+ weeks ahead. [check that worked, then put date back to automatic]

Just received another App for updating AccuWeather it's updated it appears no red badge on home screen because I set it to Update automatically, yet its still stuck in Updates in App Store and a tap directly opens it...Duh. BTW...I've never had issues with Apple products till this, I'm also using ios 7.0.6 Hope they figure this out. I'm afraid to upgrade to ios 8.0.2
