Turn off audio descriptions for Netflix on Apple TV

You have to go to the Subtitles/Audio settings and change the audio setting to English.

It is correct.... Just a bit more explination. Hold the select/enter (big button) down while the movie is playing. You will get options. Make sure to scroll up and select audio. once audio is up, simply scroll down to the bottom and choose English. You are set...thanks for playing 😉 hope it helps! Might be late for this post but if there's someone still having the problem with the Audio Description IS NOT ON NETFLIX is on your device .... Go to settings click on general and to accessibility scroll all the way to the button to Media and TURN OFF Audio Description !!

close any apps after that and should work fine after !!

On Apple tv 4 is the same thing except you slide down on the pad instead, and chose 'English' under Audio->Language menu.

So, while you are correct, I was trying to figure out why some shows had this issue and others didn't. What started thus search for me was "River". But the show before that wasn't an issue. First episode of River and I'm getting a detailed description of the Netflix logo... Then I went to Luke Cage where it was NOT a problem. I hadn't yet changed any setting or options. But what I noticed was that on River, the first audio track available was the descriptive track. On Luke Cage the first was regular audio. Second track was descriptive audio. It seems that however Netflix or whomever programs the audio, if the first is descriptive you'll have to change to the regular track. If however, the first track is the regular audio, you should be fine. Hope this helps!

I had the same thing just start happening while watching Jessica jones. The only way to stop it is to go to the audio drop down menu. On older Apple TV press up arrow then choose audio and select English for some reason it defaults to English-audio description ad. On newer Apple TV put your finger on touch pad and wait until it says swipe down for info on top of screen swipe down then choose audio and change to English. Must've been an update to the app recently because this is the first day I've seen this.

I am having the same problem where the audio description comes on by default when its available. I turn it off, and then the next time i start a video, i get it again (apple 4 gen). As someone said earlier, it may default to it if it is the first track..... if that is the case, that is such a poor design and needs to get addressed.

To turn this off permanently on ATV 4th gen tvOS 10.1, go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Audio Descriptions set it to Off.

Yes, but it automatically defaults back to the audio description for every show and every episode and I have to manually turn it off every time. How do you fix that?

Finally got rid of the voiceover

On any Apple device (Apple TV, iPad, iPhone etc) go to setting/general/accessibility/Media and turn off Audio subscriptions. This problem was driving me crazy. Hope this helps everyone. :)

I discovered the audio comments were activated when setting audio and subtitles to English.

However, keeping audio in English and switching subtitles to Spanish effectively disactivated them.
