Can't update apps anymore iPad 2 iOS 7.0.4

Hello, I discovered today that I am no longer able to update apps on my iPad 2 running iOS 7.0.4. I have 10 updates listed in the app store, but if I touch the "Update" icon, it launches the app instead of updating it. Quite frustrating. I tried powering down and rebooting but it didn't help. I saw there is a similar issue relating to iOS 8 and the WSJ app but I am running iOS 7 and I do not have the WSJ app.

I'm using an iPhone 5 7.0.4 and I've had this issue for the past 2 days extremely annoying as I can't run a few apps without updating them.

I had the same issue.

My iphone 5 on version 7.1.1 was working all OK for updates but my ipad Air on ver 7.0.4 suddenly stopped.

Issue was same what everyone has pointed out already... no update all ...when you press update it just opens up the app.

For the last two months I waited and waited thinking that it might be a app store glitch and will be resolved but it stayed the same...

I know there are workarounds where you can search a particular app and then update it individually but I don't like workarounds... why should I depend on a workaround when I have paid good amount of money to buy an ipad?

Long story short....I fixed the issue by updating my ipad Air to 8.1.2. App updates are working as normal and my ipad is running smooth. I was a bit reluctant to update iOS but after reading different reviews I found that 8.1.2 is quite stable on ipad. I would suggest anyone having this update issue to upgrade to 8.1.2. I think this is what Apple wanted...if you are on 7.0.x then you will likely have this update issue. My iphone on 7.1.1 does not have this issue. Not sure if the appstore architecture changed since launch of iOS 8 or Apple just wanted everyone to use its new iOS .. I don't know...my 2 cents on this issue is to go for upgrade to 8.1.2.

Hi.

iPad 2 with iOS 7.0.4

I experienced the same problem. After a settings' reset, I was prompted to insert my Apple ID's password. I hoped it would have worked, but I had no luck. Then I performed a network settings' reset: immediately after reset completion, a strange message displayed. It sounded like "impossible to purchase". So I downloaded a random app, and iOS didn't ask me to insert the Apple ID's password. Instead, magically, apps started to update by their own.

Good luck!

Spoken too soon. Of about 80 apps, all except one was updated, but I was still experiencing the same anomalous behavior in the updates section. So, eventually, I upgraded to iOS 8.1.3. This solved the problem.

I was worried about the performance on my old iPad2, but I have to say I'm delightfully surprised. For the moment it's even more flowing than iOS 7, that instead was rather jerky since the very first moment. Maybe you should consider the update too.

Bye!

I fixed mine simply. Just go to settings on iPod/iPad/iPhone, iTunes and Apps, and log into account. If already logged in, log out and resign in. Mine then worked. If you find that it still shows updates after its all done, just tap onto anying else in app menu to get away from installs and go back to t and as soon as you see update All! Click on it and it works.
