Failed to connect to consoleX - causes scrolling to hang for 3-5 seconds

Greetings.

Occasionally when I am scrolling, the scroll bar will hang in place, and I have to wait 3-5 seconds for it to unfreeze.

The following message appears in the console when it happens:

"Failed to connect (_consoleX) outlet from (NSApplication) to (ConsoleX): missing setter or instance variable"

This problem occurs a few times a day.

The has been a problem for me since using Mavericks, as well as through the 10.10 betas. Currently I am on the 10.10 beta so I have selected that as my OS, but it doesn't matter. I have definitely experienced this issue before July 24th, 2014.

I use TeXShop and Safari frequently.

I tried searching over the internet for solutions and I haven't found a "do this and the problem will go away" anywhere.

Any advice?

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.5), and Yosemite Beta 5

I'm getting this same error in Yosemite (10.10.5). We can only commiserate with each other... It doesn't look like Apple cares. But this is just one of MANY bugs I've encountered: )1 Snap-to-Grid doesn't work right. 2) Many "alias" icons on my Desktop are NOT correct. 3) I can't completely "turn off" the keyboard back light.. The minimum time is 5 seconds. 4) I miss "ipfw" for setting up Firewall. 5) Many Applescript applications now fail because of "UI elements". I had to resort to Automator (Run Applescript) and drop the application into the Privacy->Accessibility window. Very annoying. And the list goes on....

I have been having this same problem, but I believe only since 10.10.4.

"Console[1174]: Failed to connect (_consoleX) outlet from (NSApplication) to (ConsoleX): missing setter or instance variable"

Does anyone have any information to try and mail down what is causing this? Do you guys all have Dropbox? I'm on a Mac Pro.

I would really like to see this resolved -- frequent spinning beach balls and complete system hangs are NOT fun.

I notice this problem frequently (but not alway) when I first open Gmail. Started with Chrome...recently switched to Safari and seemed good for a few days - now doing the same thing with Safari. Open Gmail, click on a message to either open or delete, and get just get loading message. Check console and this message is always there when this happens. This is on a six month old iMac running El Capitan 10.11.2. However, does not happen on my MBP that is a 2011 unit running the same OS.

Suggestions appreciated.

I have the same message: "Console[517]: Failed to connect (_consoleX) outlet from (NSApplication) to (ConsoleX): missing setter or instance variable".

I have received two additional and very SIMILAR messages when running the Console Utility:

"com.apple.WebKit.Plugin.64[520]: Failed to connect (colorGridView) outlet from (NSApplication) to (NSColorPickerGridView): missing setter or instance variable"

AND

"com.apple.WebKit.Plugin.64[520]: Failed to connect (view) outlet from (NSApplication) to (NSColorPickerGridView): missing setter or instance variable"

I have the idea that the problem is inside NSApplication. I have the idea that NSApplication failed to "connect an outlet" FROM NSApplication because NSApplication failed to provide a "setter or instance variable" TO ConsoleX (or to NSColorPickerGridView).

I have no method and no idea to fix this !!

Failed to connect to consoleX - causes scrolling to hang for 3-5 seconds
