can’t make phone call on my mac from yosemite from contacts

Anyone else not able to make a call from contacts on a mac pro running Yosemite. My iPhone 6 and Yosemite are both setup to make cellular calls and on the same wifi network and both signed in, basically everything that is on apples support site but all calls fail. It tried but fails every time and I’m not sure what else to do. There is no more info on how to make calls and everything tried just fails. I haven’t tried to call from safari or any other source.

I was having the same problem. I update from Maverick and tried to answer a call from my Mac and everything went ok, but I couldn't make a call from my Mac.

What I did to solve this was to restart (I didn't restarted the Macbook pro after the installation) both devices (iPhone 5, Macbook Pro) and I was able to make calls. I mean, at least to have the option to "try" it, because it gave me an "Error in call" or something like that.

But answering calls is working really fine (I answered a call from the bathroom while I was scrolling on 9gag and my iPhone was charging in the other room) so I got that going for me, which is nice.

I had the same problem. Solved (at least for me).

After reading this thread I tried everything was on it. Someone mentioned that you need to be sure your phone number is linked to the FaceTime app. Both in iOS and in OS X. So after switching on and off FaceTime and rebooting, without success, I went and signed out from FaceTime on all my devices and singed in again. It kinds of reset all info on every device (you will see popup confirmation messages on all your devices screens).

Success! Outgoing, Incoming, iPhones and not.

Hope this helped

Hi all.

The thing was not working for me as well even though every setting was as it should have been. It kept giving the error that 'both the devices should be on the same iCloud account' even when they were. I thought the error might be because of the reason that I was not on iOS8.1 and I left it as it is; however, I accidentally turned off my Facetime on my iPhone5 while checking the settings and when I turned it back, I got a notification on my MacBook that your phone number has been associated with a new cloud account, and I pressed ok. But the next call I got 10 min after all this, I was surprised to see the notification of it on my Macbook (along with the ringing) and I got to know that everything is working fine now. Tried calling back from my Mac as well and the calls are going thru now. So if everything is fine, then try restarting Facetime on your phone once, that should help probably 🙂

Actually, if you could receiving calls, you can make calls, too.

Turn on the face time whatever(contact etc.) and take your mouse point on to phone number's right place.

You can see the Phone icon arise. Just click!

My problem is opposite.

I can call with Yosemite, hand off and everything without receiving calls.

I don't know why...

I tried many things, but failed.

I use iMac 2013 Late, fusion drive.
