Yosemite breaks Ricoh/Lanier Aficio SP C240DN

Hi all,

Upgraded my late 2012 Mini to Yosemite, getting "Stopped - 'Filter' failed" when trying to print to my C240DN. The same occurred with the Yosemite betas and resolved with Mavericks. I've installed the both the Ricoh and Lanier driver updates to no avail as the C240DN is not supported by them. I'm using the latest available Mavericks driver from the Ricoh/Lanier site.

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks!

It looks like the updated drivers are starting to roll out, but I haven't had the opportunity to test them all.

There aren't any available (yet) for the model posted here (c240dn) but there are updated drivers posted for the c420dn which is a color desktop printer which is similar. http://www.ricoh-usa.com/downloads/popup/popup_manuals_drivers_download.aspx?pat h=http://support.ricoh.com/bb/html/dr_ut_e/rc2/model/c420/c420en.htm

I would recommend that when trying to install these new drivers, remove the old printer and do everything manually to make sure that the NEW driver is being used- Macs tend to pull older previously installed drivers first. Also, instead of using Bonjour I would manually put in the IP address.

It looks like a lot of new drivers have been posted for many models. Good luck, everybody. I hope this helps gets things sorted.

No solution here either.

Uninstalled all traces of previous Ricoh drivers. Deleted printer. Restarted. Installed fresh drivers, Set up printer. Same result - connection refused.

I should note that the creation dates on these drivers (the Disk Image and the source files), the version number, the readme file in the disk image, and the change logs on Ricoh's site all suggest that these are still the old 10.9 drivers. I'm not sure if something got fouled up in how they uploaded them, but they are identical and manifest the same issue.

Same proplem over here with the Aficio SP c240SF, all the machine does is a pep-sound when trying to print. Got this respond from the support:

"vielen Dank für Ihre Anfrage.

Wir müssen Sie leider um etwas Geduld bitten, da wir derzeit für dieses Betriebssystem keinen aktuellen Treiber zur Verfügung haben.

Die Treiber werden aber Stück für Stück gemäß unserer Treiber Richtlinie zur Verfügung gestellt.

Vielen Dank für Ihr Verständnis.

I've been in email contact all week with a Ricoh tech (referred to me after I asked a question on Twitter) for my similar issue with the Aficio MP 8001. No solution thus far - I was told to try the generic PPD (which I can't because the networked printer requires a user code) and told that the problem "probably" isn't with their driver. The tech says he can use the current PPD to print, so the problem must not be there.

Meanwhile, the tech can't seem to answer whether the PPD was tested in my environment (printer set up using Windows via spoolss, requiring an authentication code), nor can he explain why the version number, file timestamps, and changelogs don't seem to reflect a Yosemite update.

I know what my recommendation will be on future purchases when I meet with my university's Information Technology committee next. It's one thing to have a driver miscue like this; it's quite another not to be able to answer straightforward customer questions about the QA testing and changes to the drivers for the new OS.

Hi,

I am very happy to see that I am not the only who have trouble with is Ricoh printer !

I have found the most stupid solution to solve my problem.

I have installed a VirtualBoxVM with a Windows 7 machine. This VM is connected to my network and is able to print on my Ricoh printer.

I put my document to print into the DropBox of my Imac and see directly the document in my VM, then I print !

I hope the guys of Ricoh will found rapidly a solution otherwise it would be the last time a buy a Ricoh !

Hope this will help you.

Eric.

This post is what just saved me!

I used the IP Protocol just as Dave shows in the picture and installed the printer using Line Printer Daemon Protocol. Once I typed in the IP Address for the printer my MACBookPro found it on the network and auto-selected the driver I had downloaded and installed from Ricoh. Once the printer was fully installed I went into the details of the printer while attempting to print. Here I selected the dropdown under layout and went to the job log selection. In enabled job Log and inserted my code saving it for future use. I then saved these settings as a preset and am done . I can print just fine from my Macbook Pro on either roof the two Ricoh's my company has in two different locations. I had to do this at each location for each machine.
