Thank you so much for your brave and insightful posts! It was good therapy...any perceived slight against Apple draws denial and wrath here. Mac devotees get defensive and hostile. Curious thing, I learned that many of them dread and avoid updates till a release is proved stable anyway.
I am reading this at a time when an OS X update disabled my camera. (I can see the photos but can maybe only get to them with a card reader...Kodak no longer updates it...Apple doesn't care...so I will need to buy a new camera now...maybe one Apple supports...hmm?!) But I am here because I too have broken pipe/printer issues. Tough luck again, I have a Brother (HL2230) that is no longer updated. Printer error logs, debug, console all point to an authentication problem. To be more precise, the updated sandbox is blocking some print functions (errors appear as if Cups and the sandbox are in a permission war). Additionally, I suspect the sandbox is behind other console issues I see.
For me, Mac has been a sad disappointment. With Windows, I could find answers in days, or roll back an update. Gave me great joy to fix it myself. With Mac, I need developer skills or a budget for tech support. Curiously, as I search, it seems that techies branch out to use other operating systems anyway--so few answers apply to my current situation.
