They key is something with the install of the latest OS X and Yosemite. I found a perma-fix if anyone is still interested. It's a bit involved, but it's worth it.

Enable the root user, however you care to do so (via terminal or via directory utility in System Prefs > Users and Groups (unlock) > Login Options > Edit button next to Network Account Server > Open Directory Utility (Unlock) > Edit in the menu bar > Enable root user > Create password

Once you have your root user enabled, go back to the log in screen. Once you get to the login screen you'll se the option for other, select it, then enter " root " as your username (minus the "") and the password you created above. Ignore all prompts to sign in to apple ID, and ignore all the rest as well. Once you're at the desktop, pull up Finder > Applications, and trash iTunes. Head to apple.com/itunes to pick up the latest version and install it.

Once installed test in your root user that it opens. If it does, log out of root user, back into your everyday user, and test here.

Does it work? Awesome. It doesn't? That's weird. It worked for me. Might need to try something else to get you through. Either way, we need to disable the root user. Disable it via terminal or the exact same path I have above to turn on the root user. Instead of clicking "enable root user" click "disable root user" anything downloaded in the root user will be trashed.

Hope this helps at least one person. I was already going crazy without being able to get to my iTunes Music
