When running a 2012 Mac Mini with the latest version of OS X Mavericks, the LG 34UM95 was able to use the highest resolution of 3440x1400 over Thunderbolt. However, after updating to OS X Yosemite, the max resolution available is 2560x1080. Any thoughts why 3440x1400 is now missing? Thanks

I'm having exactly the same problem, very frustrating - I tried installing SwitchResX and adding a custom resolution but unfortunately it said it was invalid 😟
I am having the same issue as well. Had to rollback to Mavericks.
I have the same issue with a late 2012 Mac Mini server with the LG 34UM95. The display works fine with a late 2013 MacBook Pro, however.
Let's hope Apple provides an update soon to restore the 3440x1440 resolution capability.
It's not terrible with the lower resolution, but it's hard to swallow that the latest and greatest Mac OS took a step backward.
Same here. My Mac Mini 2012 was working fine with the LG 34UM95 with a HDMI connection. Now under Yosemite, the best resolution is 1920x1080. My MacBook Air under Yosemite works fine, I get a good 21:9 display. I am really hoping for a fix as the display is really underutilized.
same problem here by connecting via thunderbolt cable. had to revert to Maverick
reported also in beta phase that it doesn't work but they do not care about it
For me Yosemite is not a step forward it is huge step backward
Thanks for all of the replies. I was really hoping I just had something misconfigured and would be able to fix it. However since it seems I'm not the only one with this issue, I guess I'll now have to choose between rolling back to Mavericks or running at a suboptimal resolution until Apple (hopefully) fixes this. Very, very unfortunate.
Same issue. Tried every setting possible in SwitchResX (Including interlaced, GTF, CVT, CVT-RB) and no matter what after reboot I get "Invalid Resolution?"

Interesting to me that the same integrated graphics with a slightly better i7 can serve it up on my MBP...

This is the monitor recommended to me by a rep in the Apple Store. Now it is almost unusable in Yosemite. Will LG come out with a new driver?
I have not tried this yet but I have read if you hold down 'option' while clicking on 'scaled' in display settings will show the 3550x1440 resolution for the LG display.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I found time to reinstall Yosemite over the weekend. Holding 'option' while clicking 'scaled' does show more resolutions, the correct resolution of 3550x1440 does not appear. So it would seem as of right now using the kext file from Mavericks in Yosemite is the only work around.
Can you post instructions on copying the KEXT file over? Are there any side effects? Have you tested that method and found it to work?

Directions to patch the KEXT file can be found at jonathansblog. I actually was unable to find the kext file mentioned, but I didn't try very hard. I'm fine with Mavericks for now until (hopefully) the issue is resolved by Apple or LG. Reading through threads, after getting the patched kext installed, some still have to hold "option" and click "scaled" in display settings to have the resolution show.
