Notification settings not being saved
Anyone else having the trouble that the notification settings are being reset everytime you log-in or restart?
Furthermore, login items are not respecting the 'hide' option.

Same here on both my iMac and MBA...
Furthermore, Finder won't remember customized toolbar settings... not sure whether anyone else is having that issue...
Just noticed that Messages preference for "you can be reached for messages at:" is resetting after a restart too. Definitely going back to Mavericks once I get the data on this machine backed up.
It is also forgetting the settings for the scanners in Image Capture
Here are the instructions I got from AppleCare from an Apple Engineer. I'm not sure if the fix was specifically for my machine or if it'll work for someone else. Follow at your own risk.
1. Open the Library folder in your Home folder.
2. In the Library folder, open the Application Support folder.
3. Locate the folder named NotificationCenter. Drag this folder to the desktop.
4. Next, open the Terminal application.
Copy and paste each line of these commands into the Terminal window, in order. Press return after each line:
cd `getconf DARWIN_USER_DIR`
rm -rf com.apple.notificationcenter
killall usernoted; killall NotificationCenter
5. Close the Terminal app.
6. Restart your computer.
The notification preference changes won't stick until you restart a 2nd time after this.
This seems to have worked for me. Thanks very much for posting it.

🙂
Thanks a lot. It worked.
One more question? What did you do with the folder on the desktop?
Can it be deleted?
I deleted it with no evident consequences.
I did find it odd that no new version of the folder was subsequently recreated in ~/Library/Application Support, but perhaps the folder was simply a holdover from Mavericks; maybe Yosemite doesn't actually store any Notification Center settings there.
At any rate, settings now seem to persist as they should -- both edits to the actual Notification Center slide-out itself, and settings entered into the "Notifications" applet in System Preferences. Which is a relief!
Thanks for your answer.
I also expected to find a new folder, but maybe there is no need for it in Yosemite.
Okay, I am going to delete it from the desktop.
Thanks again!
Maybe I'm not looking in the correct Library folder, but I don't see a NotificationCenter folder in the Application Support folder.
Could the Home folder be hidden? If so, how do I get it to show?
It's the hidden user library folder that you should be looking in. To access that folder hold down the option key while in the Go menu in the finder. Library should appear in the menu.
The NotificationCenter folder was actually missing for me too because I had previously deleted it trying to troubleshoot this issue. If it's not there just move on to the next step.
Worked great. Thanks Dan!
That worked, thanks a lot!
For some reason that I cannot fathom, this did not work for me. I tried it twice. Bummer.
Thank you so much for posting this! It worked for me, too. The settings finally stuck!
