Notification settings not being saved
Anyone else having the trouble that the notification settings are being reset everytime you log-in or restart?
Furthermore, login items are not respecting the 'hide' option.
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Yep, seeing the same thing. This is extremely annoying. I shut off just about everything that pops up on screen because I have virtual meetings at work all day long and really do not want personal texts, emails, etc. popping up while I'm showing my screen.
I have looked up how to completely disable the notification center and will probably have to do this until this problem gets solved since I can't have this happening.
I also have this issue and could not fix it by deleting plists, rebooting, reinstalling, or permissions repairs. Hope they fix it soon. I also had to log out of reminders, iMessage, calenda, etc to stop constant banners and beeps.
So far there seems to be no fix.
I am going to try a clean install next week, although that is a realy pain in the *** and will take up a day to get everything set-up perfectly again (thx Apple for that...)
seemed ok yesterday after instal (and multiple restarts), but today I have this same issue. Looks like I'm going back to Mavericks. I have no need or use of Notification Center, much like I never needed or used Dashboard. Can't stand junk software I don't want spewing useless data in my face. this might arouse the social media addicts but not I.
Here are the instructions I got from AppleCare from an Apple Engineer. I'm not sure if the fix was specifically for my machine or if it'll work for someone else. Follow at your own risk.
1. Open the Library folder in your Home folder.
2. In the Library folder, open the Application Support folder.
3. Locate the folder named NotificationCenter. Drag this folder to the desktop.
4. Next, open the Terminal application.
Copy and paste each line of these commands into the Terminal window, in order. Press return after each line:
cd `getconf DARWIN_USER_DIR`
rm -rf com.apple.notificationcenter
killall usernoted; killall NotificationCenter
5. Close the Terminal app.
6. Restart your computer.
The notification preference changes won't stick until you restart a 2nd time after this.
I deleted it with no evident consequences.
I did find it odd that no new version of the folder was subsequently recreated in ~/Library/Application Support, but perhaps the folder was simply a holdover from Mavericks; maybe Yosemite doesn't actually store any Notification Center settings there.
At any rate, settings now seem to persist as they should -- both edits to the actual Notification Center slide-out itself, and settings entered into the "Notifications" applet in System Preferences. Which is a relief!
It's the hidden user library folder that you should be looking in. To access that folder hold down the option key while in the Go menu in the finder. Library should appear in the menu.
The NotificationCenter folder was actually missing for me too because I had previously deleted it trying to troubleshoot this issue. If it's not there just move on to the next step.
Truly annoying.
Apple should have fixed this right away.
Silver lining to the fog: Perhaps this bug will alert Apple to the usefulness and desirability of a "Disable Notification Center" option in future OS updates.
Finally researched this issue, and found this thread. Thank you!
Dan Roesser's solution worked for me as well, though I did have a couple minor exceptions.
After I could confirm it worked, I added in a widget that relies on its program running to work (specifically, Fantastical 2). I've noticed after some unknown amount of time without Fantastical 2 running, Notification Center will "forget" its position and I have to move again.
I've noticed the same with Omnifocus 2, though its widget will remain in place, and display outdated data, even if the app is not running. But similar to F2, after some time without OF running, its widget will move.
But I will say overall (i.e, for all other widgets), this solution worked!
This seems to have worked for me. Thanks very much for posting it.
At least we now know it is happening with more users.
Let's all send in the feedback at https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html so they hurry making a fix.
Same here. Super-annoying. I really don't need previews of my emails and messages appearing, since I am presenting for large parts of my day.
Also having this problem after updating to 10.10 tried deleting the apps and reinstalling no joy. Please if anyone knows a fix for this.
Exactly the same problem after upgrading today. After a reboot it loses any changes I've made to the notification centre settings
