bluetooth connection fails iOS 8.0.2 OS X yosemite

- I'm (and my both devices) in the same network. I have configured only one set (I leave guest network off);

- My MBP is compatible with Continuity. I already validated that on Apple Support regarding my MBP version and consequently BT4.0 "version" (0x6);

- The Handoff option on both Devices (iPhone: General > Handoff / Macbook: System Preferences > General) is enabled. This basics I wouldn't miss.

Macbook Pro OSX 10.10 (I have the right bluetooth version 0x6 as other posts suggested to check)

After the upgrades I deleted the device from the bluetooth list (both phone and mac) and tried to pair again.

Pairing seems to succeed, but then it appears as "Not Connected"

Same for me, everything is working with the new Yosemite / iOS 8.1 features but you cant pair the devices.
However anybody know what benfits you get when they are connected true BT ?

Bluetooth was originally used to share simple files. We now have airdrop so we don't need this.

Ok, this is to everyone now.

1. Go to iPhone bluetooth settings.
2. Forget the Mac you are trying to use by tapping the i and then forget device.
3. Turn off bluetooth and turn back on
4. Make sure both devices are on the same Apple ID. Also make sure both are logged into iCloud
5. (you can do this by going to settings > iCloud on your iPhone)
6. turn hotspot on your iPhone OFF by going to settings > personal hotspot > slid to off
7. put your two devices near each other
8. Go to your Mac and hit your wifi settings up in the taskbar
9. you should see the iPhone present in its own separate row
10. click it to connect to the iPhones network!
11. The iPhone will automatically turn on Hotspot

I done that already, it does "forget" and pair again , connects, get connected then gets disconnected but everything stil works. So If its not needed for any reasons Im done here. hehe.

Thats the point. Do not try to pair them manually. Do not try to 'pair' the Mac and the iPhone.

Got a MBP mid 2011 running Yosemite and an iPhone 5S running iOS 8.1.

I get "network not aviable" as soon as i try to connect.

Do you mean connect to the WiFi hotspot created by your iPhone? Can you take an area based screenshot using CMD + Left SHIFT + 4 of your error message.

As i try to connect to the iphone using the top bar or in settings. And the other way around, connecting from my phone to the mac.

To clarify: In my case i´m not trying to use the "instant hotspot" or any other Handoff features since my MBP does not have BT 4.0. I´m just trying some good old internet sharing and basic connect between iphone and mac.

then hosting the hotspot should work as intended. Just settings > hotspot > slide on.

connect to hotspot on mac as a normal wifi.

Or you can use the USB - lighting cable

Thanks. I know how but it won´t connect properly.

Now when i enable hotspot on the iPhone and then connect via BT from the Mac it works. As i remember you could connect from the Mac without hotspot being enabled. But i might be wrong. And what good would that make:)

Yub; worked fine with me now... after updating to IOS 8.1; rebooting my iPhone and Mac; now I can see my phone in the network list and Handoff worked perfectly... without any BT pairing...

There are reasons to pair the phone and the computer other than handoff, continuity, and hotspot. Programs like TokenLock sense your phone via bluetooth in order to function. Right now, it won't work because the phone doesn't pair properly.

In that case I understand, It dont work. Soon will it be an update.
