bluetooth connection fails iOS 8.0.2 OS X yosemite

Hi, I'm facing connection problems trying to create a bluetooth connection between my iphone (iOS 8.0.2) and MacBook Pro with the new OS X Yosemite.

I'm not able to pair the two devices

I had/have the same problem but it doesn't actually matter. It seems you cannot actually pair iPhone and Mac devices in the usual way. You just need to have Bluetooth active on both devices then any app that needs them paired does it on the fly. So, Handoff, SMS, Calls, Airdrop etc. work OK without you having to manually pair the devices - just carefully follow the instructions in MAC Help. You need IOS 8 (maybe IOS 8.1 - not sure) on your phone and Yosemite on your Mac and Bluetooth active on both.

I wish the iMac Help actually explained the Bluetooth part It would have saved me a lot time playing around.

I think I have figured out what is causing this problem, although I don't know a solution.

I am able to pair my device, but connecting to it is the problem for me. When I have both devices bluetooth-enabled and I select my phone from the bluetooth menu on my MBP, the only option is to "connect to network" instead of just "connect" which is an option for all of my other BT devices that are paired with my MBP.

My conclusions are that the MBP is only attempting to connect to the Hotspot feature of the iPhone, and not the iPhone itself. This is the reason why the notification that reads "Make sure the network access is enabled" is appearing when I attempt the connect to network option which is disabled on my phone. It seems that the new hotspot via BT feature is showing a major priority over normal BT connection in the OS.

Is what I'm saying making sense to everyone?

I'm having the same issue connecting my bluetooth Jawbone headset to my Macbook Pro. The problem only started after installing Yosemite. I have to have my MBP "Forget" the Jawbone and re-Pair and it works - but only until I disconnect. Then I have to "Forget" and re-Pair again the next time I want to connect. I hope Apple puts out a fix for this soon!
